I guess she had a newjackish sound I suppose, at least "hold you tight" does. Infact, that track sounds like "all around the world" LOL. Its always hard to define what is newjack. It doesn't matter much, but its hard to describe nonetheless.

The only reason I mention it is that I heard it out of nowhere on the radio today and it made me very happy. mr.green

Nostalgia? Heck i was really too young for newjack (born in '85), but i did start collecting music very young (from about 5-6 years old, i would tape off the radio LOL)

I used to tape off the radio too when I was about 7 in '83 and '84. Good times!

Oh man, i woulda loved to of been around ur age in the newjack era (iam guessing an early-mid teen around early 90's?), or even about my age now (iam 21).

I had an awful New kids on the block like rattail (with blonde hair LOL), so i do remember the era very well.

I just call it that, but anything newjack really

Guy
Basic black
Jodeci
Al b sure!
Keith Sweat
Another bad creation
Father MC etc etc...

I love all US pop from that era too though. New kids on the block for example. I love the production from that era really. The hard hitting snares, all the effects used to camoflage what was often little melody (think Prince's "tick tick bang"), the peppy synths, the drum programming etc...

I never cared 4 them. I place them up there with Mista (which featured Bobby Valentino). I couldn't stand them.

I prefered Portrait: http://www.youtube.com/wa...WUCHosFauo

Portrait's debut is good. If you like that, try Suave's second album "to the maxx" (1991 capital records). Its produced by Sauve and Portrait member Michael Angelo Saulsberry, co produced by the rest of the members of Portrait.

I HATED Suave. He couldn't sing his way out of a box. He was very dull and untalented. I guess that's why he chose to go to jail. sad

The only two songs I've liked from that crosseyed fucker are two tunes he did with Public Announcement - Vibe (which I now don't like after hearing the full version and he's talking about how Aaliyah gives him wood) and Honey Love.

U didn't like "Dedicated" or "Slow Dance"? Those are 2 of my favorites on that album.

Which album? Outside of Twelve Play (barf) I never heard any of his full albums. Only the singles.

They were all on the "Born Into The 90s" cd.

As for R. Kelly albums...my favorite is definitely "Chocolate Factory". The "R. Kelly" album is 2nd. Those albums show just how talented he really is (they are not just about sex like so many of his other albums).

I agree with u about 12 play. The uptempos were horrible and most of the ballads were tired. Now, the remixes from that album are another story. They were masterpieces compared to the album versions. The "Bump and Grind" and "Your Body's Calling" remixes are some of his best pieces.

And they were singles. That album's four singles were "She's Got That Vibe," "Honey Love," "Slow Dance," and finally "Dedicated."

My favorite albums of his are definitely TP-2.com, R. Kelly, and Chocolate Factory.

I agree for the most part. "Seems Like You're Ready" and "Your Body's Calling" are the best songs on the album IMO. I've always had a soft spot for "Sex Me" -- sue me. lol Both remixes to "Bump 'N Grind" are hot, but the "Your Body's Calling" remix is even better!

But please don't let Vainandy see this video. He'll give you a long speech about how dead-ass downtempo that track is!

Nice breezy summer cut is that song. Yeah, Vainandy says he hated newjack, but not as much as todays music LOL. Newjack, like any form of rnb for that matter, could be slow and midtempo. Some of newjacks signature tunes were slowjams ("lets chill" "make it last forever" "stay" "all i see" "roni" etc..), so its little surprise Vainandy never took to it LOL
