It's cheesy as fuck but I guess I can bear to listen to it. Not my favorite song by any standard, though.
It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

I like the original concept even better. "Do They Know It's Christmas?"

Ya know the English recording artists who came together, made a song and sent the proceeds of the single to Africa months before the American fiasco.

Utter, utter, utter, utter, utter, utter shite. Fuck-smug.

Songs that would have been perfect "save the world" charity anthems:

"Can You Feel It?" - The Jacksons (totally underated disco-gospel monster)
"Earth Song" - Michael Jackson
"Hey Jude" - (obviously. The original template)
"You've Got A Friend" - Donny Hathaway

I don't care much for the actual song, but I do have it on my mp3 player. I like the Bob Dylan parts, and the Bruce Springsteen / Stevie Wonder duet part towards the end.

I liked it when I first heard it, but the song got SO MUCH PLAY that it wore thin...really quick.

I wouldn't consider it my favorite song...nor among my favorites, but I do like the song.

If u think We Are The World is bad, try listening to the Canadian version....it is the worst.

wave I do! I love that song. I posted my undying love for it a few months ago, so I'll just say that I think it is a cheesy song saved by some inspired pairings and outstanding vocal performances. The duet part between Stevie and the Boss alone would make the song a classic. love

I was about 11-years-old when this song came out. At that time, it was the greatest song in the world to me!

Cyndi Lauper? excited
Michael Jackson? excitedexcited
The Pointer Sisters? excited
Huey Lewis? excited
Lionel Richie? excited
Kim Carnes? excited
Bob Dylan? omfgwhofarted "What's that noise? Does he really sing like that all the time?" I'd never heard of him before, and don't really care for him now. Yeah, I know he's like famous and influential and shit, but I just don't care for his voice. lol

The song now - it's okay. Makes me nostalgic, but I don't think it's a great song or anything. I remember watching the making of it at my friend's house one night. We also watched the making of Thriller several times. The only thing I remember from the making of it is Michael doing some alternate version of it with some chant in the background between the lines of the chorus.

I got it. Its called "tears are not enough". Mr foster produced it. Its pretty ropey, and i like those charity songs usually.

Still, David Foster rectified himself with "voices that care". Its mainly nostalgia, but the production is lush. I prefer it alot more than"we are the world", where it sounds like Bruce Springstein is constipated.

"Do they know it's christmas", was a job done well. well written, performed ev'rything.
Now the Ami celebs really took the piss, with jumping on the band-wagon and making the most of an opportunity to show-case the scale of their "fabulous" voices, one rarely sees such awful taste on such a big scale!!!

The song itself is perfect for it's cause, but the American way is not in the least charitable to people less fortunate.

Still it was entertaining lol
Just a tad sickening.

Springstein is a wonderful songwriter, but on this song I listen to it and I can't believe how disturbed he sounds. He's hilarious.

Dylan, a personal favourite, although he gets a lot of stick for his voice on this recording doesn't actually make a fool of himself.

cyndi Lauper, one of my many dream lovers at that time does makes a fool of herself. God bless 'er! smile

Yeah, Springsteen is kinda funny in the video. I love Dylan, but in the video, he looks so outta place, almost like he knows this was a bad idea, but did it anyway. I dont mind Dylans vocals in that song.

Does Steve Perry get a solo? Al Jerreau's line sounds awful, and i love his voice usually.

Hell, "We Are the World" is easily one of my favorite vocal performances from Dylan.

eek I can't believe you asked that! He only has one of the best lines in the whole song, wailing out, "Ohhhh, there's a CHOICE we're makiiiiinnnn', we're saving our own liii-iii-iiives!" Good times, good times...
