Artists that have completely changed....

Today I was listening to some old AFI with my bud, and we were talking about how they are like a completely different band (sound, looks, themes) from the punk group they began as.

He hates the 'new AFI' , but I like them now as much as I like they're old style.

So here's my question...What musicians, do you know that completely switched horses on you? Was the change one that you enjoyed, or couldn't really get used to?
If you will, so will I

Lionel Richie.
From the tight ass funk of the Commodores to lame ass adult contemporary ballads.

It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

though not an extreme change; one person that immediately came to mind is P!NK

from this:

to this:

oh yeah click the pics. lol

and i like the change. again..nothing too drastic...but obvious. i love her first album and wish she'd make another like it. but i love her rock-pop stuff as well.

i was also going to say Christina Aguilera...but no.

Yeah, I know several people who were really let down with her 2nd album since the R&B was virtually gone, but I thought it was nice that she was showing some versatility. shrug

i think some people are disappointed because most of the time, when someone changes genre of music, or style, image, etc... they never want to acknowledge what put them there in the 1st place. i LOVE P!NK!!! but i was a little disappointed when i saw an interview and she was saying how they made her do this and that and sing this or that song on her album. yets she's credited for writing or co-writing half the album. lol embrace change but don't put down what you agreed to do in the begining, especially if you helped create it.

and yeah.. versatility is key. definitely. on the other hand a lot of people don't like change for some reason. and that's sad. shrug

Yeah, it's kinda sick cuz it looks like his brothers are congratulating him on his junk, and he's like, "Yeah, I'm the shit, mate." disbelief His pants in the video for Stayin' Alive are so tight they're pushing his business 'bout near up to his spleen.

So, yeah, I'd probably hit it back then. I have his shirt. Got it from Kohls.

What I want to know is: has his junk gradually flattened over time? Does he wear equally tight pyjamas? If he takes off his pants, does his vocal range shrink several octaves?

I don't know of anyone that is a fan of both versions of Ministry. You either like one or the other it seems.

I don't like old AFI. They sounded more like generic nerdy punks back then.

Maybe they don't count because of the slight name change, but The Cult started out as Southern Death Cult in 1983:

http://youtube.com/watch?...ed&search=

Ian Astbury then shortened the name to The Cult with new members and they sounded like this on their last album:
