And he re-recorded Little Richard's song copying his music. The more things change, the more things stay the same. Great history reference. I acknowledged white privilege being one of the contributing factors to his successful output. That doesn't affect the end result of quality. Nor is modern music being in bad shape any argument, JT's stuff is good or it isn't. The blurb about breaking records is from his website, I pasted it, not sure how true it is. It has the potential to be true eventually though. 3121 betters FS/LS if all youre looking for is Prince the artist, for general quality I can't see how anyone impartial could compare the songs and production. How long the hustle last remains to be seen. Timberlake produced his whole album with nate and timbaland; EVERY TRACK. He wrote every song you have no idea what you're talking about. Timbaland even asked JT to HELP HIM with his album. Producing and composing are two diffrrent things and many people think it means the same thing, but it doesn't. A producer is who pays for the production. They can be apart of the song-making process if they want, but it is not necessary. Timberbitch wrote his own lyrics, but all except 2 songs on that album were composed by Timbaland. Without Timbaland or any other composer, Timberbitch would be SOL [Edited 6/24/07 13:07pm]

Popular music has always had a large component to it that is nothing more than good looking guys singing catchy, fun, state-of-the art songs. This really isn't anything different than it was 10, 20, 30, 40, 60 years ago. The problem is that that's really all there is anymore. This, along with some really annoying bling-bling/krunk "hip-hop" and a bunch of whiny emo bands that sound exactly the same. The problem is there's no variety, whereas there used to be. Personally, JT has been getting on my nerves ever since this whole FS/LS era began for him. But it's mostly about his personality. As for his music, I don't begrudge the guy putting out some catchy/fun tunes. Hell, we really need more of that, if it's quality. It's just that we need other stuff too, and we're not seeing it in the mainstream. It's there, it's just not what you're going to hear on contemporary radio or over the piped muzak system at the mall anymore. But I think Justin's music fits the landscape of music today....nothing innovative.

Agreed. It's said state of affairs that all an artist has to do is rip off different vocalist sounds and get a producer to make pop friendly tracks.
