NE-YO makes dumbest statement ever

Now im not big on NE-YO, to me hes just the typical flava of the month or year, same as Timbaland was and pharrel etc..etc... But as usual when current artists get a little fame they make the DUMBEST statements, i mean they all have done it, but this one just really annoyed me.

Ne-Yo Credits Mariah, Usher For Bringing R&B Back
And he's working with Mariah on her new album

"R&B is definitely making a comeback," he says. "People are (again) realizing the power of R&B music. It has the power to cheer you up when you're feeling bad, or to make you cry. People are realizing the beauty of real music."

Ne-Yo credits Usher's "Confessions" and Mariah Carey's "The Emancipation of Mimi," the biggest-selling R&B CDs of recent memory, with bringing the genre back after it was shunted aside by hip-hop.

"They proved there's definitely a hunger for R&B out there," Ne-Yo says, though not everything being served was always good. "People were doing it for the wrong reasons. I'd rather do it to provoke a feeling. But some people were doing it just to make money. It was like, 'It worked for this guy, let's do what makes the most money in the least amount of time.'"

While hugely busy as an artist, Ne-Yo is equally in demand as a songwriter. He penned Rihanna's "Unfaithful" and Mario's "Let Me Love You," as well as songs for Mary J. Blige, Faith Evans and B2K. But his biggest hit as a songwriter was "Irreplaceable," which was also Beyonce's biggest hit as a performer.

A slight controversy brewed after she started speaking too loudly of herself as the song's primary songwriter in interviews. Ne-Yo stood up for the song, for which he wrote all the lyrics, pointing out that she contributed melodies and harmonies. Asked whether they'd be able to work together again after that, he says they already have on the rerelease of Beyonce's "B'Day" CD.

Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson, Britney Spears, Usher and Mary J. Blige are among those with whom he's working this year. They're all looking for that special touch from the man who was initially stumped when asked what makes a great song.

"If I had to make a guess, I'd say a relatable subject matter, clever lyrics and catchy, infectious melodies," says Ne-Yo, who likes writing for others as much as assuming the lead-artist role. "At the end of the day, it's all about the music. Whether it's for myself or someone else, it's still my vision."

First of all heres what Bugs me about this, first i dont consider Mariah or Usher even RB, to me they are a mix of POP/RB and really all hes saying is that they SOLD, they didnt bring anything back but maybe some cash flow to labels. NE-YO hasnt a clue about RB, someone sit his ass down and make him listen to Rashaan or Donnie or Teedra or the new Amerie (which is never coming out in the US because of RB) or Jaquar or dozens of others that dont SELL like the ushers and mariahs but are more about RB than they will ever be, RB didnt go anywhere, the people at labels who knew what it was and the VJ's and DJ's are the ones that went away, someone bring them back.

"We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

Amerie's album is whack, it's typical r&b fluff with bad vocals, she's no different than Ashanti, Mya, Ciara.. Tedra Moses need good songs...Ne*yo is not great himself but he can write a song and sing.
