Toni Braxton Says No To Timbo, Next Diva To Join Def Jam?

Toni Braxton says No! to Timbaland and Yes! to Thicke

In a recent interview with Groovevolt.com Las Vegas queen Toni Braxton has spoken about the direction she wants to take her recording career next. The sultry diva who dominated the R&B and Pop charts during the 90s derailed from her multi-platinum trail following some heavily publicised legal battles with her record label.

Speaking about her next record Braxton says she won’t be jumping into the Timberland bandwagon, which according to Braxton “would be too hard for my fans to identify with”. When asked what other artists she’d rather work with she dropped several names that included NeYo and Micheal Buble. Braxton also says she is looking forward to working with Robin Thicke. “I’m such a huge fan,” said Braxton. Toni Braxton’s publicist was not available for an official statement about her new record label, but sources suggest it is Def Jam (L.A Reid).

Toni Braxton’s last studio release ‘Libra’ (Blackground) despite reaching Gold status failed to produce any noteworthy hits. In late 2006 Braxton signed a multi-million dollar headlining contract with Flamingo Las Vegas that saw her back in the limelight. Her production received rave reviews and gained sell-out success and she became the first African American artist to enter the Top 10 Vegas concert in History.

I wouldn't be surprise if she signed with Island since Babyface has already signed with LA and company plus it seems he's always is doing things in the shadows for her...

When did Babyface sign with Def Jam?

Anyway, I am looking forward to Toni's new project. Her last album, "Libra" was excellent.

why do I feel like every major female artist is signing to island def jam? It's getting cluttered now with mariah, janet, and maybe toni and I know some others

obviously 'cause the lable's got an overload of hits as of late.

as for the divas getting in line, it must be after witnessing Mariah's triumphant comeback with the lable, esp. with LA Reid.

I wish they realise it's not a formula though, but rather creativity and work ethic, e.g. JD's continuous success with Mariah and his failure with Janet.

Timbaland and Toni don't mix. Timbaland should know that. Just like Tim and Brandy..while it was aiight...something was missing....And I think it was Tim's timeframe when he was just ok..and Brandy's vocals just arent strong enough to match his beats.

eek Afrodisiac was hot! Also, I love them both, but you aren't honestly implying that Aaliyah was a stronger vocalist than Brandy, are you? confuse

Point taken. Still, I think Brandy played the "pissed off" role just fine -- "Who Is She 2 U" is fire! music

She sounded Vulnerable on that. Aaliyah was not HAVIN IT though. "Extra Smooth" "Those Were The Days" "U Got The Nerve" "What If". Brandy...she should find a producer that's gonne really do her some justice.

She jumped on the Rodney Jerkins and "I'm getting to be middle-aged so I better start dressing like a ho late in my career" bandwagons easily enough. Not sure why she's so snooty about Timbaland lol

except she's going to be working with the most popular new guy out there, so how's that trying to sound "different than what's out now"?
