Anyone else rate the music of this lady? I don't think she gets the recognition she deserves.

Obviously she's well known for her biggest hit, Young Hearts Run Free, but I really like some of her grass roots bluesy songs. I can recommend her self-titled album that came out a few years ago & that brought back some of the tracks she cut ages ago.

I personally think YHRF is a better and less annoying song than I Will Survive, which I think is over-rated.

Her best work was of course with the Fame label. They released a great compilation of that era, called simply Candi Staton.

Too bad they did not do an extensive coverage of those years, I got a great bootleg compling all the singles; too much stuff goes un-issued on CD.

Try to find a song like Freedom Is Just Behind The Door and you'l catch my drift.
