I played the treads off of Cooleyhighharmony and II. Then inevitably they started repeating themselves, which I guess is what you do when you have hit songs that stay number 1 for like 15 weeks. They could definitely sing but they were destined to burn out pretty quickly.

I saw them on a double bill with K-ci & jojo a couple of months ago and they ripped it. Wanya can wail like crazy! Blew K-ci & jojo off the stage without breaking a sweat.

They both had excellent harmonies. nod

...but the difference to me was the soloists. All of the En Vogue ladies were great soloists, but I didn't really like any of the Boyz (no, not even Wanya) in that capacity. I think a better comparison to En Vogue vocally would be Shai.

Well, the downfall of B2M was Jodeci. Once chicks got a taste of the badboy/thug it was all over for the clean-cut foursome. Chicks didn't want to be wined and dined, they wanted to be fucked backstage.

As for en Vogue, once Dawn left that was pretty much the end of them.

They were not real R&B, IMO. They were a pop version of R&B. They made it easier for white pop groups like 'Nsync and the Backstreet Boys. In the beginning, they were fine, but then they became more pop than jiffy. Their style of singing was not authentic, it was commercial.

Nah, they co-existed quite well. They both had peak years from roughly '91-'95.

As for en Vogue, once Dawn left that was pretty much the end of them.

Sad, but true (although I'm one of the few who liked EV3).

By the end of it all, the fans chose the badboy image. Where are the clean cut groups at now? Now all you see is the thug life.

That's more a function of hip-hop co-opting R&B. In fact, after those groups began to simultaneously fade into the sunset, it was the Hailey boys who resurrected their careers by doing the clean-cut thing.

I don't know, because then came Jagged Edge and 112 and groups like that, that more so resembled Jodeci than B2M.
