TORI WHOLE CAREER LOT LIKE PRINCE IN LAST FIFTEEN YEAR

ABOUT DOZEN CLASSIC

THE REST NOT SO MUCH

PLUS LOT OF ALTER EGO AND HUMPY INSTRUMENT STUFF

cool

Awww. I love my monkey. It's true. No artist can be genius throughout their entire career. And there indeed seems to be a trend with both Tori and Prince, losing their ways.

The reason why they lost their way in it's own right is interesting to watch and ponder on. In Tori's case, I think she only became great because she channeled the ghosts in the closet.
Her later work, logically, levelled out and the musings she had were maybe not on the same level as at the beginning of her solo career.

To my ears, her albums since Choirgirl are not on the same level as those before. The ideas behind the albums are interesting, it is just the way she channels them into music that is not so captivating anymore. Most albums since then sound timid where she used to make albums with songs that stood out between the others and still told a story.
These days she tells stories told through personalities I cannot identify with anymore, except maybe the few Monkey boy spoke of. And albums like Scarlet's Walk and The Beekeeper are, to me (and this is my opinion), borfingly even in their overall sound without standing out to my ears; normally when I listen to an album I have ONE instant favourite and both these albums really stood out to me as neither delivered me such a song, leaving me a bit bewildered at first.

Now, the latest albums at least delivered four of such songs, even though I did not like the rest of it a lot, it got more play outa me than the albums since 1999.

And, if you liked Tales Of A Librarian, you might have a feeling about her; if you wanna get into her (then go for album one, move your way up) or if you want to keep it casual, then I'd suggest get the Piano box, which is an introspective of her entire career plus some bonus b-side material. In an awful beautiful box.

Enjoy!

in Navarre. I flew up there a couple months back after the Miami invasion...its...uhhhh....ummm...nice and slow there. lol

It is. biggrin

I hope it wasn't too nasty for you in Navarre. That's the beach I go to 'cause it's less crowded than Pensacola Beach. It's been a mess, though, since the year of hurricanes (Ivan, Dennis, and Katrina especially). I think they're just now getting it in order.

I moved here from Seattle, and before that I lived in Chicago and Knoxville, so the pace took a little getting used to. But I don't think I could leave the beach now.

AV Diamond Voice Changer + Tori= trippy as hell.

I've been having a blast listening to artists with voice changer on, and adding different effects and Tori sounds good as a male. I'm thinking of males performers who'd sound good covering her songs. hmmm

Tori IS the greatest female artist ever. People who compare her to Kate Bush probably only know one or two Tori records and are just highlighting their own ignorance.

The day Kate Bush can write something as profoundly moving as "iieee" or "Siren" or "Zero Point" will be the day that pigs fly!

Sounds like bait. lol "Iieee".....especially the live version w/ the solo and "Siren" are two of my favorite songs by her, but it's not her best, imo. I would've brought out her big guns if I was gonna make a statement saying it's more profound than anything by Kate.

I always look for people who are able to keep my attention. Björk almost lot me. Tori kinda did, so to me, Björk's somewhat higher too.

To me, there's Ella, Mahalia, Tori, Kate, Björk, Joni, Billie, Maria.

I'd have to think on the two that would compliment the 8.

That was so random falloff She is wearing wigs a lot lately.....maybe this alter ego deal is just a cover up for hair loss hmmm Tricky, tricky Tori.....but ya didn't fool me. evillol No, I guess all of that touring she does and having a family would cause a lot of stress leading to hair loss.

Maria Callas.

Annie is a contender. But she is not really consistent as a solo artist to me.

I love Kate Bush but I think that people who view Tori Amos as a Kate Bush wannabe are simply ignorant or in denial.

Tori Amos has written some of the most amazing, evocative, haunting and original pieces of music ever. She IS one of the greatest female artists.... there IS room for Kate and Tori....there can be more than one talented artist that plays the piano...

I'm a fan of both, but I do feel Tori Amos has written stronger songs over the years....Siren to name but one...

No really i'm serious...

Siren(amos)

And you know you're
Gonna lie to you
In your own way

Know know too well
Know the chill
Know she breaks
My siren

Never was one
For a
Prissy girl
Coquette
Call in for
An ambulence
Reach high
Doesn't
Mean she's
holy
Just means
She's got a cellular
Handy
Almost
Brave
Almost
Pregnant
Almost in love "vanilla"

And you know you're
Gonna lie to you
in your own way

Nocturn (Bush)

Sweet dreams…

On this Midsummer night
Everyone is sleeping
We go driving into the moonlight

Could be in a dream
Our clothes are on the beach
These prints of our feet
Lead right up to the sea
No one, no one is here
No one, no one is here
We stand in the Atlantic
We become panoramic

We tire of the city
We tire of it all
We long for just that something more

Could be in a dream
Our clothes are on the beach
These prints of our feet
Lead right up to the sea
No one, no one is here
No one, no one is here
We stand in the Atlantic
We become panoramic

The stars are caught in our hair
The stars are on our fingers
A veil of diamond dust
Just reach up and touch it
The sky's above our heads
The sea's around our legs
In milky, silky water
We swim further and further
We dive down… We dive down

A diamond night, a diamond sea
and a diamond sky…

We dive deeper and deeper
We dive deeper and deeper
Could be we are here
Could be in a dream
It came up on the horizon
Rising and rising
In a sea of honey, a sky of honey
A sea of honey, a sky of honey

Look at the light, all the time it's a changing
Look at the light, climbing up the aerial
Bright, white coming alive jumping off the aerial
All the time it's a changing, like now…
All the time it's a changing, like then again…
All the time it's a changing
And all the dreamers are waking.

C'mon now anybody with a brain knows who wins this contest

It's evident that many artists who have sold and been praised by other artists such as beyonce, a keys, gwen stefani, etc aren;t fit to lick tori's clit.

What album should i buy next?

Anytime a 90s artist is "easily" declared to be the greatest ever, there's gonna a major debate. Very understandable.
