It's evident that many artists who have sold and been praised by other artists such as beyonce, a keys, gwen stefani, etc aren;t fit to lick tori's clit. What album should i buy next? I never heard of this person, I don't even know what this person looks like, sounds like... and I don't know any of thier music.... so please tell me how this person is the greatest female artist ever....

Start from the beginning... -Little Earthquakes -Under The Pink -Boys For Pele -From The Choirgirl Hotel You should also get some of her singles...they all have bonus tracks Then I 'd get her 'Piano' Box Set if only for the last disc of unreleased goodies. Her DVD that came out last year with all her videos (and commentary by Tori on every video) is simply divine. If you absolutly cant get enough..you must see her live...to make your mouth water...get her 'Live Bootlegs' Box Set (if its still available) that came out in 2005 with 10 discs / 5 concerts from her Original Sin tour...it includes incredible performances of songs old and new and tons of fan requested covers of songs like 'Like a Prayer', 'Father Figure' and my favorite 'Total Eclipse of the Heart'.... have fun..it will be an adventure! The man has said it all right there. Except, you may not need the singles since many of the important b-sides are on the Piano box set.

I just don't see how one can listen to one album ( a greatest hits) and declare someone as the greatest of all time. "Tales" doesn't even capture all of Tori. I have a love/hate relationship with Tori Amos.....so times like this is when I start hating her It was the same the first time I heard Kate Bush's music after going on and on about Tori. looking for you in the woods tonight Switch FC SW-2874-2863-4789 (Rum&Coke)

Has she gotten plugs yet? Everytime I see her I she has lost more hair. I always feel real bad for woman whose hair thin out because at least it happens to a lot of men and it's not an unusual site but woman you can't help but look. [Edited 6/22/07 14:24pm]

TORI WHOLE CAREER LOT LIKE PRINCE IN LAST FIFTEEN YEAR ABOUT DOZEN CLASSIC THE REST NOT SO MUCH PLUS LOT OF ALTER EGO AND HUMPY INSTRUMENT STUFF Awww. I love my monkey. It's true. No artist can be genius throughout their entire career. And there indeed seems to be a trend with both Tori and Prince, losing their ways. The reason why they lost their way in it's own right is interesting to watch and ponder on. In Tori's case, I think she only became great because she channeled the ghosts in the closet. Her later work, logically, levelled out and the musings she had were maybe not on the same level as at the beginning of her solo career. To my ears, her albums since Choirgirl are not on the same level as those before. The ideas behind the albums are interesting, it is just the way she channels them into music that is not so captivating anymore. Most albums since then sound timid where she used to make albums with songs that stood out between the others and still told a story. These days she tells stories told through personalities I cannot identify with anymore, except maybe the few Monkey boy spoke of. And albums like Scarlet's Walk and The Beekeeper are, to me (and this is my opinion), borfingly even in their overall sound without standing out to my ears; normally when I listen to an album I have ONE instant favourite and both these albums really stood out to me as neither delivered me such a song, leaving me a bit bewildered at first. Now, the latest albums at least delivered four of such songs, even though I did not like the rest of it a lot, it got more play outa me than the albums since 1999. And, if you liked Tales Of A Librarian, you might have a feeling about her; if you wanna get into her (then go for album one, move your way up) or if you want to keep it casual, then I'd suggest get the Piano box, which is an introspective of her entire career plus some bonus b-side material. In an awful beautiful box. Enjoy!

PS. I might seem to moan, but when you look at my overall most listened to artist, Tori is still nr two after Prince. And even a boring Tori Amos song is worth to listen to, just cuzza that voice.

Tori IS the greatest female artist ever. People who compare her to Kate Bush probably only know one or two Tori records and are just highlighting their own ignorance.
The day Kate Bush can write something as profoundly moving as "iieee" or "Siren" or "Zero Point" will be the day that pigs fly!

The day Kate Bush can write something as profoundly moving as "iieee" or "Siren" or "Zero Point" will be the day that pigs fly! I think it's because Tori mostly writes on a personal level where Kate Bush is a story-teller most of the time. It's just much easier to like Tori and feel her songs. Raped daughter of a priest turned rebellious and feminist singer songwriter. I think it's just fascinating that Kate has that kind of a fan base who can relate to her on a personal level considering that she is mostly a narrator in her music.

Of course: Tori's a writer & composer, a true artist, when the girls u mention r just "products" of the pop industry. If u like Tori u should give a try 2 Kate Bush, which is an extraordinary artist (don't start with "The Red Shoes" or "Aerial", which have a more "common" sound, but more likely with any of her first 6 albums. u'll like it or not but i can guarantee that very few artists have such a personnal, original & emotionally strong universe. Other women who r great composers with a true universe of their own include Akiko Yano (a true genius), Björk (another true genius), Suzanne Vega, Poe, Donna Lewis, Ricky Lee Jones, Joni Mitchell, Kahimi Karie and... Wendy & Lisa. Taja Sevelle's third (a unfortunatly last as 4 now) album, 1998's "Toys Of Vanity", is also a small gem featuring intelligent mature lyrics & great music, completly different from her silly 1st 2 albums.
