Calvin Harris - I Created Disco Hey music lovers. Has anyone bought/heard this album?? If so, is it worth getting? Here's the blurb from amazon.co.uk: 'I Created Disco' is the debut album from Scottish electronic artist Calvin Harris. The album, a mix of electro-infused dance tracks, sees Harris take influence from the likes of LCD Soundsystem, Daft Punk and in particular, early eighties electro. The singles 'Acceptable In The 80s' and 'The Girls' are included. I am so out of touch with what goes on chart-wise these days - so I hadn't heard the singles - but I caught this AMAZING, infectious Linn-drum filled track on Big Brother a few weeks ago and been trying to find out what it is ever since. Anyway, I've finally discovered that it's called 'Acceptable In The 80s' and - trust me - I am sure there is not a single Prince fan out there that wouldn't love it! The Linn drums on this track are drool-tastic. It's like a perfect slice of purple music heaven. The video must be on youtube, I'm sure. Take a look. Anyway, I am seriously tempted to get this album but has anyone heard it yet?

i didn't like it so much. it sounds like an LCD soundsystem knock-off to me, only even MORE repetitive. the guy even kinda sings like snagglepuss like the LCD guy does. maybe if i hear this guy's stuff in clubs a few times, it'll grow on me. till then, i'm not understanding the buzz.

Thanks, Anx. I nearly bought the album on the way home but refrained; now that I'm home I just watched the video on youtube for the first time. I can see what you mean about the vocals - each time I've heard it, its been LOUD and mostly instrumental. It was playing in a record store I went in this afternoon. I think an instrumental version of this song would be fab; those Linns make me yearn so much for Prince to return to that sound. Thanks for your input.

Acceptable in the 80s is an absolute tune, unfortunately it's been played to death here in the UK. But when it was first being played in the clubs people loved it.
His new track 'i love girls' , or something like that, isn't so good. I think it might be a one hit wonder job. Better off just getting the new Dizzee Rascal album "London, i've adopted a name that has no pronounciation.... is that cool with you?"
"YEAH!!!" "Yeah, well then fuck those other fools!"

Seriously, I am so out of touch chart-wise... it's embarrassing. Bring back The Chart Show. I read one review of the album a few weeks back - not realising it had the track I'd been searching for - and it was so-so. But I've read GREAT reviews of the Dizzee Rascal one.

Yeah, the new Dizzee album's great. It's one of the best hiphop albums i've listened to in quite a while. Wicked beats, fresh ideas, and Dizzee's vocal delivery... You've probably heard oldschool and sirens already. Great tracks. But here's another from the album some cheeky monkey's uploaded onto the tube: http://www.youtube.com/wa...Ei6arLh3fI "London, i've adopted a name that has no pronounciation.... is that cool with you?"

Oh, and I checked this guy's tracks on MySpace - the entire album is available to listen to - and I wasn't very impressed. I won't be buying this one.

Haven't heard the track but I'm already sure I'd hate it if I did It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.
