Which albums should i get?

...AND...in listening to some of his older stuff you'll be able to hear how it influenced some parts of Raphael Saadiq's work , particularly the bass lines...

I hear "The poet" is pretty good. Have you heard it?

for his 70 stuff it's best to start with some Best-Of collection probably... also Across 100th Street is classic...

personally I'm very much into his early 80s work.. both Poet albums I consider essential... The Poet II starts of with several outrageous duets with Patti LaBelle... but all songs are top notch... definitely in my all time album Top 10 ever




I saw him life in 1988... a breathtaking experience! this still ranks within the best three concerts I've ever been to

This was another tight album. And with the addition of Ms Patty, it was on fire.

Although I fucking ADORE the cut "Across 110th St", my fave album by him is "Understanding". That album is fantastic.
