oh yes... I played this for the
first time a few days ago
and I LOVE LOVE LOVE this album!

problem is, I have it as an "albumwrap"
and I can't skip through
(even though there's no need to really)

"Drunk" - Tweet
any of that Rotary Connection stuff
the Sgt. Pepper's album
"Humble Mumble" - Outkast (w/ Badu) <--that ending eek
"Young Fresh & New" - Kelis <--the music is hypnotizing

"All The Critics Love U In New York"

can't really think of too many of Prince's
that put me in a "trippy" place

I just find his first 3 albums too polished. Time period is horrible for me musically. Late 70's-early 80's. His first album is so softly produced. The leap from "contraversy" to "1999" was insane,

Oh yeah, i meant to type "2 albums". "dirty mind" and "contraversy" (are raw, but mainly not my thing. "uptown" is a song everyone loves, but i find it tame and boring in that horrible new wavey way. Falsetto gets on my nerves aswell.

HAA! falloff

My ONLY complaint about that period is the fact that he didn't release "The Flesh" project.

Listen to Lenny Kravitz's fairly straightforward "Fields Of Joy" from Mama Said. Then listen to the wacked-out "Fields Of Joy" (Reprise) from the same album. Some serious drugs must have been done during that recording. It works better in the context of hearing the original version first I think, but whenever I think of drug-inspired recordings, that's always the first one that comes to mind.

tonk ton7, I have to disagree. I enjoy Kravitz stuff, but it's like a colour photocopy of psychedelia rather than the real, drug-induced deal IMO.
