There are many but the one that comes immediately to mind (I listened to it this morning) is Moody Blues' Nights in White Satin.

White Rabbit - Jefferson Airplane
Any Colour You Like - Pink Floyd Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds - The Beatles Swlabr (She Was Like A Bearded Rainbow) - Cream Spill the Wine- Eric Burdon & War Dazed and Confused and In the Light - Led Zeppelin In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida - Iron Butterfly Sunshine Superman - Donovan a ton of Funkadelic songs There are lots more, but these came to mind first. Some aren't necessarily about drugs or tripping, (or maybe they are ) but they have a certain psychedelic sound. There is a lot of trippy Prince stuff (Crystal Ball, entire 1999 album etc) along with Floyd (especially Dark Side of the Moon). I would recommend Tristeza. Their music has amazing atmosphere. Cars by Gary Numan is a good song. That synth riff is hypnotic. Later [Edited 6/18/07 9:28am] Cause tomorrow is taking too long

Strange Exotic Pleasures can be found with Tipsy. Tres psychedelique!
Amazon.com description for Uh-Oh Anyone who's ever prepared a bubbly drink for a patio party while listening to Esquivel (or one of the endless series of Ultra Lounge comps from the mid-'90s) will know precisely where Tipsy's coming from. This playful modern group uses all the sonic cues of classic lounge and exotica music--popping-popcorn rhythms, string arrangements set on "tickle," tiki-surf guitars, and interjections of "Zow!" that sound as if they were sung by people in well-tailored suits. But Tipsy are keenly aware that this music's kitsch factor went out of hipster fashion about five years ago--the same time that their great debut, "Trip Tease," got lost in the ironic-lounge avalanche. So here they move beyond the (squeeze) cheese factor and craft infectiously upbeat songs that stand just fine on their own, from the sunnily propulsive "Papaya Highway" to the spy-themed "Swallowtail." And in a nod to today's electronica mayhem makers and yesterday's psychedelic popsters, they insert disorienting sound effects at every other turn. (See the blender-collaged "Hey!") Forget the retro-revival factor; Uh-Oh is a perkily distracting good time in any era. --Lisa Gidley Christian Zombie Vampires

Space Rock Jam Band Ozric Tentacles
Amazon.com description Although Ozric Tentacles is the bridge between 1970s space rock and 1990s techno, they've never quite crossed that bridge themselves. They remain suspended in an approach that sounds like it could've come straight out of the recording sessions for Gong's You and Steve Hillage's Fish Rising albums from the mid 1970s, a decade before they were formed. With Ozric, you strap yourself in and hold tight as the band careens through sequencer patterns spinning like rotor blades, slicing up the real fusion drum grooves that remain the engine of their sound. As kinetic as techno, but full of syncopated rhythms that shift through complicated time signatures, Ozric layer synthesizer swirls, deep-throb bass lines, and serrated guitar forays from founding and only original member Ed Wynne. Much of Ozric's music is about morphing forms, as stuttering voices evolve into a gurgling lead synth line that's chased by a guitar that morphs into an explosion. --John Diliberto Christian Zombie Vampires

Electronic Music from another world...that world is Shpongleland...
From Wikipedia... Shpongle is considered to be one of the most important and influential psychedelic downtempo or Psybient music projects of recent years. The members are Simon Posford (aka Hallucinogen) and Raja Ram (one third of The Infinity Project). Their sound is a mix mainly consisting of sampled eastern ethnic instruments and western contemporary synthesizer-based psychedelic music. Posford is responsible for the synth and studio work while Raja Ram contributes with flute arrangements. They are both responsible for the visionary input. According to one interview, they commonly visualize the music together before they create it, and during the creation process. Christian Zombie Vampires

We skipped the light fandango
turned cartwheels 'cross the floor I was feeling kinda seasick but the crowd called out for more The room was humming harder as the ceiling flew away When we called out for another drink the waiter brought a tray And so it was that later as the miller told his tale that her face, at first just ghostly, turned a whiter shade of pale She said, 'There is no reason and the truth is plain to see.' But I wandered through my playing cards and would not let her be one of sixteen vestal virgins who were leaving for the coast and although my eyes were open they might have just as well've been closed She said, 'I'm home on shore leave,' though in truth we were at sea so I took her by the looking glass and forced her to agree saying, 'You must be the mermaid who took Neptune for a ride.' But she smiled at me so sadly that my anger straightway died If music be the food of love then laughter is its queen and likewise if behind is in front then dirt in truth is clean My mouth by then like cardboard seemed to slip straight through my head So we crash-dived straightway quickly and attacked the ocean bed And so it was that later as the miller told his tale that her face, at first just ghostly, turned a whiter shade of pale

Listen to Lenny Kravitz's fairly straightforward "Fields Of Joy" from Mama Said. Then listen to the wacked-out "Fields Of Joy" (Reprise) from the same album. Some serious drugs must have been done during that recording. It works better in the context of hearing the original version first I think, but whenever I think of drug-inspired recordings, that's always the first one that comes to mind.
