Today I was listening to some old AFI with my bud, and we were talking about how they are like a completely different band (sound, looks, themes) from the punk group they began as.

He hates the 'new AFI' , but I like them now as much as I like they're old style.

So here's my question...What musicians, do you know that completely switched horses on you? Was the change one that you enjoyed, or couldn't really get used to?

i like AFI sooo much better now..i cant really get into their old stuff at all

From an artist with a message, a purpose, and stellar music to back her up

To a simpering, horned up has been peddling her body to make a quick buck...

That makes me really, really sad. sigh

shrug I have their catalogue, and I don't notice any big shift in their sound.

I do too, and I don't notice it either. shrug

Right, the thread title says COMPLETELY changed. Talking Heads do not fit into that category.

Like a record, baby. Right round round round.

Once a drag, always a drag. Partial(80's) to full(present).

Madonna

From a very good (if nasty) house-inspire Erotica.....

.....to playing a Mary J. Blige-like hip-hop/R&B inspire Bedtime Stories.

I'll give her this credit.

She reinvented herself everytime she came out with a new effort since "Like A Prayer", every album is a new statement; musically as well as lyrically.

I STILL can't stand the bitch, though.

If you can't stand the bitch, how does it happen that you're so familiar with her work?

It's just SOOO different! One of my good friends is a huge punk fan and loves their old stuff, but when they started becoming more I guess goth-rock, he joined the "AFI sold out" club.

I like almost all their stuff cause I think of them as almost like 2 different bands playing different kinds of music.
If you will, so will I

Ha Ha! You can see Barry's junk in that first picture lol

Yeah, it's kinda sick cuz it looks like his brothers are congratulating him on his junk, and he's like, "Yeah, I'm the shit, mate." disbelief His pants in the video for Stayin' Alive are so tight they're pushing his business 'bout near up to his spleen.

So, yeah, I'd probably hit it back then. I have his shirt. Got it from Kohls.

I think AFI sound more like Nine Inch Nails now. Because goth DOESN'T sell. The image does, but not the music. I wish it did.
