I think the first image is just as phony, though.

Elvis--went from legit enough to be accused of stealing his act from the all-time greats to being such a joke that nobody wanted lay claim to the style.

One of my favorite bands ever, We've Got A Fuzzbox & We're Gonna Use It!! started off looking and sounding like this: http://www.youtube.com/wa...kOj282VD-Q

And within the space of one album, turned into this: http://www.youtube.com/wa...b3aHuPE7fA

I thought of them too, but then again they bring some of that old school Funk/Punk flavor back on "Stadium Arcadium". I mean, songs like "Charlie" and "Hump De Bump" I would rate with some of their best and funky material. So I wouldn't list them just yet.

Jamiroquai. disbelief

The first 3 albums were great since they had that chilled-out Acid Jazz/Neo-Soul/Deep Funk. They need to get out of the discos and back into the FUNK territories.

This reminds me of Jewel, who went from granola girl to being sprayed with a hose, in a "mockery" of objectification in video.

That was hot. I saw her live very early in her career yodeling as the opening act for Peter Murphy.

MARY J. BLIGE

nowadays I have to turn to
"Brook Lyn" for that side of her
that I fell in love with

Bummer. Nelly used to be cute and fun and her songs were fairly decent. Now? She's a Vancouver-born Beyonce. Oh, hurrah

Sad but true. She's sacrificed her originality to go Pop. In way, I kind of knew she was going through a transition in her early days when she started pairing up with Missy Elliot for earlier projects.

Well, if you listen to her catalogue, you notice the difference. Also, she's added more bluesy tunes to her repertoire which isn't bad at all.

Kool & The Gang, obviously before and after JT

sure I like both formations, for very different reasons, but they almost sound like two entirely different bands

From a Prince-inspired synth-funk band like The Deele....

....to a Lionel Richie-like artist/producer.
