I find it hilarious when I hear people in the UES of Manhattan (where I work) blasting country music or classic 80s rock from their luxury SUVs. 
Not only does it reaffirm my belief that money does NOT buy taste; but it makes me think that bad taste may, in fact, be inversley proportionate to the amount of money one has--which means I pretty much have impeccable taste! | |

The funny thing about it is, When they blast their music, The only instruments you can hear is the Kick-drum and the Bass. BOOM!!! BOOOOM!!!!! BOOOOOM!!!!! is the only sound coming out of the car.BUT: People always blast trashy crap from their cars. WHY?!? And it's not even affable, QUALITY trashy crap like disco or Ramones or even Ozzy. No. It's always like the Shania Twain cover of a Mr. Mister song with guest vocals by D-Thugg and Cialis, remixed by K-Fed, from the "Songs Inspired By but not Appearing in Spiderman III" album. Why can't I be woken up in the middle of the night by someone blasting Mozart's Requiem or Brian Eno's "Discreet Music" from their car stereo as they prowl down the street? A little Stereolab never hurt anyone. Come on now, just humor me. Or Heart! I would even accept "Barracuda" or "Magic Man". Absolutely. GLADLY. Chicago orgers: just to make me smile, drive past my apartment at 4 a.m. and blast some Kate Bush or Alice Coltrane from your car speakers. I swear, it'll make my week. I mean, come on, people. STANDARDS.

What's even worse is the Latinos blasting that damn Reggaeton music!!!  That's why I don't even go to places like The Bronx and Washington Heights that much anymore. Every song is just the same, repetitive beat over and over again. And since I'm not fluent in Spanish I don't know what the fuck they're rapping about. Damn, it's aggrevating.

there was one other time i had an upstairs neighbor who blasted their stereo CONSTANTLY, so after very meekly complaining at their door one time at 2am in the middle of the week , they kept blasting it all the time so i made copied a mix CD i made for myself and put a post-it on it that said "FOR YOUR STEREO" and slid it under their door.
they moved not long afterwards, coincidence i'm sure. | |
