The footage of Otis is historic, as is the Hendrix (for the obvious reason), as a product of the 60's this music was the soundtrack to my childhood as well.
It's too bad it took most of my life to actually see the film footage. The Otis Redding footage is not just historic, it's beautiful, soul by one beautiful human being with Booker T and the MGs just tight as hell (because they all just came back from the Stax tour in Europe).

Oh yeah, it's one of the signs of the apocalypse that this soundtrack is being sold in Starbucks...

wouldn't it have been great to have been there? I wasn't born for five more years (1972) but I would have loved to have been in the audience and saw Janice and Jefferson Airplane, Jimmy and The Who. Wow.....I have never done acid but with my luck i would have been one of those people in the "bad trip teepee".

I remember Jerry Garcia joking about how THRILLED he was to go on in between The Who and Jimi Hendrix.
The old story of Jimi and the Who arguing about who goes on first (and what Jimi did in his performance) is legendary, but I recently heard that Jimi stole Pete's guitar and burned it that night. I don't know if that's true. My Legacy

I don't know if that's true. Nothing like being a "buffer-band" between Hendrix and The Who. Really? Where did you hear that? Regarding the performance order, according to Pete Townsend, "We came on after him, and all I could do was just stand there and strum." tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. Seems that would have ended up as part of the legend if it were true. But it would add to the legend of him passing the burnt guitar to Zappa, and the guitar would have had a third superstar owner! edit--they're debating it here http://www.youtube.com/wa...FUS7FlYE_g again, I don't know that it's true [Edited 6/26/07 15:14pm] My Legacy
