NE-YO:'NOTHING WILL TOP THRILLER' NE-YO:'NOTHING WILL TOP THRILLER'
NE-YO is delighted he is writing the new MICHAEL JACKSON album - but admits there is no way his work will outdo the star's classic Thriller album. Ne-Yo, who has worked with pop's biggest names including Britney Spears, Beyonce and Whitney Houston, knows he has his work cut out for him as he attempts to oversee Jackson's comeback - but insists there is no point trying to compete with the legendary 1982 record. He says, "I'm not trying to top Thriller. Anybody trying to top something that's already been done is fighting a losing battle. "It was a different industry back then, a different way of thinking and people were easier to impress. Everything in music has been done now, so Michael needs to find his place again." http://www.contactmusic.c...er_1033391

I gotta say I agree with Ne-Yo in that there is nothing even he can do that will top the music off of Thriller. At least he recognizes this so maybe in the end, a great, even classic song may come about with this collaboration because they might not be trying to repeat history. He's also right that the industry is totally different from the one that was around in 1982. We talk about that all the time here and in Prince: Music and More but the only thing I disagree with is that we were all easier to impress. It seems like that's more true for today than 25 years ago. Thriller grabbed people the way it did because it was a fucking hot album and it's STILL hot today. In the end, it'll be interesting to see what songs will be on the new Michael Jackson CD and if any of the Ne-Yo songs make it in the final cut. We will see. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Basically, I have a feeling none of his stuff won't make the cut Especially with the shit he's been saying "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

Oh its true, its just MJ/Sony work with alot of artist... making up to 150 tracks with sevral different producers... alot cats just won't make the cut... The rejected tracks will be offered to MJ knockoffs like justin Timberlake, Usher, chris Brown , Omarion etc... IE Neptunes tracks like "Like I Love You" & "U Don't Have to Call" which in my opinion shouldn't have been rejected ... but thats me... I am a Rail Road, Track Abandoned

well at least he's not as stupid as i thought. he knows he can not out do thriller or even match it. also, how sad is it that MJ is being produced by an MJ impersonator. am i the only one who finds this strange? how do you completely jack someone's style and get away with it? MJ should sue him!

Michael and Sony are doing the same thing they did with "Invincible". They are throwing names around the press to get people interested in the project. By the time they do the actual cd, most of those people wont be on the cd.
When he recorded Invincible, he did tracks with Pharell, Jermaine Dupri, Jam and Lewis and a few more people. NONE of thos tracks made the cd. I believe that some of the outtakes were used for the Essetial boxed set (whatever that thing was called). Now, to give Michael credit, he usually is a real perfectionist. I have heard that he has made musicians play a song hundreds of time to get the song the way he wants it (especially during the Dangerous sessions). If he does work with Ne-Yo and Will I. Am, hopefully he will make them step up their game. After all, the man has been making music for almost 40 years. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-
