Any Funkadelic/Parliament fans? favs?

Any music lover should really start listening to p funk; i started about a year ago and have nearly every album now.

fav albums
free your mind
cosmic slop
maggot brain
one nation
mothership connection
funktelechy vs placebo

I also like chocalte city and dr funkestein as well as funkadelic's debut

I just ordered computer games as well by george; any thought on that one?

I think George's 80s solo material sucks balls.
Anyways, my fav Parliament albums are Funkentelechy Vs. The Placebo Syndrome, Mothership Connection (not a single bad cut on either one of those masterpieces) and The Clones Of Dr. Funkenstein.

It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

That album sucks balls, as far as I can remember. Well, it does have Theme From The Black Hole, but other than that, very sub-par stuff. It's not as bad as Trombipulation though.

As I remember you don't like any Funkadelic either. eek

80s was Pfunk going techno with unfortunately a lot e-drums and a strong Prince, and later Thomas Bolby, influence. Some good, some bad, some ugly.

COMPUTER GAMES is notable for great techno-funk tracks like "Atomic Dog" Man's BEst Friend" and "Loopzilla". BIT FISH is really only notable for "Quickie", JOKES is cool al the way thru. R&B Skeletons is a great concept that needed more editing. These were probably best served on the 12" collection

Hmm, "Glory" had "The Freeze" (my fav off that Album), "Colour Me Funky", "May We Bang You". I can't even remember what "Trombip" had on it (and I have the Album) George with a Process and and Elephant's trunk eek . Funk I'd take another listen to "Glory". Imo, it had a few gems on it.

and the church said amen cool

this album was my introduction
to the P-Funk.. along with
Funkentelechy Vs. The Placebo Syndrome
my uncle gave me the vinyls for these
back when I was in like 6th or 7th grade

and I instantly fell in love with
the title track to Gloryhallastoopid
those women on the BG vocals kill me!!!
"that fuss was us!" music

"Colour Me Funky" is beyond crazy
and was the prelude for
"Uncle Jam"... he's coming for you!
LOVE IT!

F Vs. TPS... needs no elaboration
that album is classic

now... while I listed Glory...
as most played (right now)
it's great and everything... BUT
I definitely wouldn't put it at
the top of my Parliament list lol

Mothership Connection
or F Vs. TPS would easily
take the top 2 spots...
which order, I'm not quite sure
they are both "unfuckwitable"
as far as full albums are concerned

however
I'd run into some problems
trying to pick my #1 Funkadelic album
so many great ones

I've come to find
you really can't go wrong
with a P-Funk choice

^^^^^Tell your Unc, He's alright with me! We've all had that favorite Uncle or Aunt. You touched on a few things DC, took me to another time and place. You might want to cruise the "tube" and look for that Live version of Dr. Funkenstien (after the ship lands) that intro is CRAZY (loop material fo' sho)
George is in that white Mink/Wig, Lol, that intro might make you hurt yourself, Everybody has their signature, to me that intro IS P-Funk.

I think George's solo stuff from capitol records were very innovative, along with the P.Funk All-Stars Urban Dance Floor Guerrilas, Inc. Thang Band & Jimmy G. & The Tackheads

When he went to paisley park tho' disbelief he's been totally hip-hop ever since...

Was it said before, that Prince's Erotic City was inspired by an Atomic Dawg performance from George and them?? hmmm

Oh!!!

And proud owner of that 12' inch collection

it's sooooo weird you mention this
I shed a tear first time I saw that lol
(out of excitement)

I had heard the story (told by my big cousin)
of how the highlight of the P-Funk show
was when the mothership landed
you would hear lighters all over the arena
sparking joints up (much like the Rick James shows at that time)
(MY KINDA CONCERT lol)

so I was like green with envy
listening at my big cousin relive it
until I stumbled upon it on youtube
(GOD bless youtube!!!!!)
maaaaan when George pimped down them steps
and did his lil funky dance, I fuckin lost it
(I love "Dr. Funkenstein" BTW)
man I wish I coulda experienced it in the flesh cool

I'll go out on a limb and say, I believe that you're younger than I am, but you guys are the torch bearers of the new Mil. Whatever genre you're into, make sure you've done your homework on them. Why? because in about 2 decades, the new Gen will be curious to know, how? when? and where? This is History we're living, plain and simple.

I've heard that Funk is dead! Yea ok. How could it ever be? 4/4 will always be 4/4. And you can't get to 2, without dealing with the 1. Some may not listen anymore, but it sure as H ain't dead.....unless you don't know how to count. wink

Co-sign. Funk's not dead. It's just that some of these upcoming pop artists on format radio haven't perfected their musicianship/ studied music enough to know their way around a groove to understand the power of the on the 1 groove perfected by JB & his accomplice on bass guitar Bootsy.
