Prince is cool, Raheem DeVaughn has a nice tone, Bilal can get high notes and has riffs for days and D'Angelo is soulful as hell but none of them can hold a candle to Maxwell. He sings effortlessly, which separates him from the others. Here's a rarely seen gem from the Embrya CD:

Prince does have a wider range than all of the above though, with the possible exception being Bilal. Anyway, yeah... Maxwell is very comfortable in his falsetto, and I love the tone. I wonder when his 'Black Summer's Night' is going 2 drop. "He's a musician's musician..." |

Bilal made the best RNB album of last year called Love For Sale but someone leaked it and his label refused to release it.
It's one of only 3 albums that has never left my Ipod, the others being Martin Luther's Rebel Soul Music and Funkadelic's Let's Take it to the Stage. | |
