Funkologist: What Are Your Thoughts On "If AnyBody Gets Funked Up" and TAPOAFOM from G & P-FUNK? I must admit this is the only George Clinton album that I own and I love the whole album but I don't think it has ever been mentioned here on the org...So I'm curious what you true funk soldiers think of it...(cause well, obviously funk is not my main thang). Space for sale...

As a lifelong funkateer from back in the day with every Funk Mob record ever recorded, I LOVE that album. In my opinion, it is the strongest post-Funkadelic/Parliament piece of work from GC and crew. I think it is highly underrated and does not get the love it deserves on the org. Mathematics is my favorite P-Funk jam of the 1990s and compares well with any of their baddest post-1981 cuts. I am stunned more fellow funkateers don't voice more love for this album, and especially that track.
Peace, Scott If you've got funk, you've got style.

I'm not that fond of George Clinton's post Parliament/Funkadelic material. It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

TAPOAFOM is the last shining gem is the PFunk crown. It had a lot of great tunes and a solid thematic concept. Unfortunately Sony pulled the plug on support and this masterpiece floundered. The late 90s tour were particularly shining moments for the band. Musically, they approached levels of the 70s great peak, but lacked any special effects or show gimmicks test

Sos, the Original Org Funkologist is here to comment on the quality of stank generated from this classic Funk cut. This was some serious shit. The video was dropping some serious knowledge on what could possibly happen in the future. Of course, George & P- Funk have been miles ahead of the rest when it comes to concepts and imagery.

The song is a little bland for my liking however i do like the album despite it lacking variety productionwise. It gets a little samey over the course of the whole album. Theres less rapping than Hey Man Smell My Finger so its fine by me. Mathematics and Summer Swim are my faves.

I have this CD.I'll have to pull this one out,I remember liking it alot back in the summer of '96 If I recall, this CD contains two versions of "If Anybody Gets Funked Up"....a modern-sounding version, and a second version that sounds more like classic 70s P-Funk.Needless to say,I prefer the latter

...
My favorite track on there is Sloppy Seconds, especially because it features Bernie , Bootsy and George doing what they do best and doing it as a collaboration....you can hear the care and effort that went into creating that piece. Bernie, Bootsy and George form a kind of pyramid of sound there, and if any one of those three were missing, it wouldn't sound as great..... I agree with the others, TAPOAFOM is arguably the strongest post-Parliament/Funkadelic album they've done. ...
