"Glitter" better than "UTCM/Graffiti Bridge"

...but not as good as Purple Rain. I saw it again last night, and thought, as music films go, it's not bad. Better than Prince's post PR efforts...It's got a cool electro-eighties soundtrack. Mariah's not as watchable as P, her "40 year-old doing an impression of an 12 year old" wears thin quickly, but overall I think its a better film...

I disagree about it being better than UTCM. Glitter was nothing but another one of those cheesy movies about someone that "Dreams of Becoming a Star"..how original...

For what it's worth, UTCM is a good movie! (imho)

Graffiti Bridge on the other hand... blech

Oh, and you couldn't pay me to sit through "Glitter"...so I can't give my opinion about that film...but my statement should say enough.

I actually thought Glitter was not as bad as people said.
It's okay. It is a formula movie though.

The thing is i have seen so much worse than Glitter, especially from people in Music. I mean Hard To HOld from Rick Springfield, i mean I love Rick forever but even he said "not only did i show my ass in this movie, but i showed how much of an ass i could be". Glitter was doomed from the get-go Mariah was being trashed left and right for stuff during that year, some of it her fault, some of it created by Sony and the smear machine, but to me its still "musically" her best work. The movie itself was to typical "the rise to fame" it was like "Honey" with Jessica Alba, same deal. Glitter however, knowing Mariah, should have been a Hotter movie, especially with her sex appeal and outfits, but Glitter didnt have any of that.

I think that's the case with me now
I wouldn't say "bored"
but I only check for the "Modernaire"
"Beautiful Ones" and "Darlin Nikki" scenes

Glitter was boring and after managing to get through Electric Boogaloo, Beat Street and that other dance/rap WTF movie that had Sheila E in it, I had no real reason to see Glitter again. GB and UTCM are not only bad, they're funny and incite me to drink which makes it even funnier. But what the hell, Prince was so damn fine in GB, I could get past the lame religious references and equally bad acting.

Its a downright rotton dirty shame how they did that cover disbelief what pisses me off even more is the absence of featurettes.

I mean C'MOOOOON for god's sakes, its MAHOGANY lol you mean to tell me there isn't a docu-featurette discussing its "cult influence" after all these years,,,,and you mean to tell me that there are no glimpse of its media coverage that could do the DVD justice, like a simple "the making of" or something? lol

But I enjoyed the clear DVD remastered quality, for whats its worth. And that car accident scene is just bananas lol

Did Paramount release "Dreamgirls"? They probably thought since Diana was the inspiration of the movie, they took the design and font of DG and used it for Mahogany's DVD cover confused

I'll tell you another thing too; it was released on the same day the "Dreamgirls" DVD was released, so there u go wink

I'm not mad @ Diane for milking the Dreamgirls success(hell, its basically her story when you strip down the characters names),,,,,I say get that money, Miss Rosss the boss lol

Lol what sex appeal? Mariah is one of the least sexy women I have ever seen. She tries so hard but she's just not sexy. Anyway, Glitter was indeed a horrible movie and deserved all the negative reviews it got. Now "Wise Girls" on the other hand was actually pretty good and it showed that Mariah could somewhat act but Glitter was a total embarrassment. She should have never done that movie.
