**** (4 stars) Album of the year

Rick James Dominated the funk in the 80s and he pretty much single handly kept the Funk Alive back in the day.he has never gotten his due because others stole his Concepts and Ideas.well on this Album Rick played a whole different hand and it works.Rick already did Funk,R&B,Blues,Jazz,Pop,Rap and everything else in between.He is a Underrated Smooth Singer.Rick has some of the tightest slow Jams Ever.the Man was a Musical Genuis.He understood style.the title track along with "Taste" are on point."Sapphire" is a Great tribute song to Black Women.Rick was a strong Poet and never afraid to show his emotions.you ain't gonna catch Rick James having to Perform behind a Sheet on National tv or something.he was stiaght to the point and direct.He should win more Grammys and be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.He was One of a Kind and he left a lasting impact.he was Soulful.He was a Strong Soul Brother who understood changing the game up.His game got stolen,but Rick this time went into a whole different direction and it works.RIP to Brother Rick James.the Genuis lives on.


I should point out that I haven't heard the new CD yet.I ordered my copy and it should be here in a few days.I went to Amazon to see what other fans were saying about it.

From what I've heard this is just a shitty hip hop sounding piece of crap.
Anyways,
1) Rick should be inducted into the Rock 'N' Roll Hall Of Fame
and
2) Rick doesn't get the kudos he deserves.

I don't agree with one word of that review. However, I will say, mistermaxxx has always been respectful to me, even when we have disagreed.....so far. That's a lot more than I can say about some of those other loony tunes on the Rick James site with....."Prince is a dick sucker, a faggot, and a queer".....which is such an excellent arguement when it comes to disagreeing on music. The ignorance and narrowmindedness over there amazes me. I've seen more open minded people driving through the redneck backwoods of Mississippi.

Apparently, the real Rick James fans and lovers of music are on the org....the fans who not only praise his work that they love but also have the guts (and honesty) to criticise his work that they don't like. Apparently, that site over there is full of idol worshippers who refuse to hear any negative response concerning Rick's music. It kind of reminds me of a Rick James version of how I picture the NPG Music Club site to be.

The thing that irks me the most, is the open homophobic remarks towards Prince. Not because they are being made about Prince, but because they would make homophobic remarks like that towards anyone. Over there, homophobia seems to be encouraged rather than shunned. If they don't like Prince, that's fine, he has his faults like everyone else. But to hate him simply because of what they perceive his sexuality to be is rediculous and real music lovers could care less.
