it was half empty? i mean, i don't like her music, or her.

Dont be surprised! Current tours by Popular artists are not selling out, Christina Aguilera's show here in NYC failed to sell out by far, when Beyonce toured with Alicia Keys and Missy a few years back that lineup couldnt sell out MSG, and that was at Beyonce and Alicia's peak of popularity. Its a generation thing, younger people dont really go to shows, artists like Elton John,Manilow,Billy JOel all sold the garden out for mulitiple shows in minutes. It is kind of strange though, because a UK act like Girls Aloud just played a 20 date tour in the UK and sold out all arena-venues with no problem. The interseting thing about the garden is that alot of acts re-construct it seating wise so it looks as though they sold it out, I remember during the Musicology tour, Prince who can easily sell out the garden, had the seating in certain areas not for sale, so it looked like there were alot of empty seats higher up. The Christina Aguilera show didnt sell out, which did not surprise me, I went to the show mainly to see PCD but that show should have been done in a small venue like a Radio city, especially given the "cabaret" style theme, i also didnt understand the inclusion of Danity Kane as a warm up act, they were on stage literally 15-20 minutes, i think they did 3 songs, it was just weird because they didnt fit with either act, despite being pretty, and singing wise, i felt bad for them. [Edited 6/4/07 7:39am] That's why I was surprised to hear she was doing a solo tour. I don't know anyone hyped about seeing her show but then again, I don't know anyone who actually cares about her that much. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

none of the current stars cut their teeth in clubs or tours.
in the past people actully worked their ass of to get to the recording studio for a major label. older audiences don't want to go see someone just cutting their teeth on performing, and with the cost of tickets now and the weak economy parents aren't spending the money to send their kids to see these people perform. maybe in 10+ years if they are still in the game they will have same success touring as say Reba, Bette, the Stones, U2, Madge and all the other vets of the circut. You CANNOT use the name of God, or religion, to justify acts of violence, to hurt, to hate, to discriminate- Madonna

The funny thing is that the ones charging the most money are still selling out without any issue. Madonna,U2,Billy Joel,Manilow,Elton all of these artists sell out in minutes but still are charging pretty high prices. I havent seen the Beyonce prices but i think they are starting at 50-60 and up from there. Prince, well we all know the ticket price there, the Aguilera ticket prices werent bad, just the venue sucked for that type of show. My main problem with ticket pricing is that im not paying 100 bucks to sit a few levels up at a MSG for anyone, that is just plain stupid, I dont mind paying alot for a show where i can see and enjoy the damn thing, so i dont mind Prince charging me whatever as i long as i am down close, i think thats the bigger issue. Artists should play smaller venues if they are gonna charge big $$$ "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

Christina's next tour or the one one following will probably be reaching that level. Funny....when I went to a Patti LaBelle concert a few years ago, she had the place rockin', and brought down the house with "Lady Marmalade". We were dancing so much, we were dripping sweat when the concert ended.
Some of today's stars need to go back to school, IMO.

i was asking cause I really bought the tickets but AFTER that I tried to look her up online and all the tour pics I found were just of her in silver, looking a bit like a drag queen and now I'm having second thoughts cause I paid so much money for them. Beyonce is one of the few artists today I enjoy and I love her voice, so I'm hoping she gives a good show. But after reading this, I'm having second thoughts

Wow! This is a lonely world! To actually go to a concert of someone who you obviously don't care for with the anticipation of opening a thread (before anyone else) on a worn out trend (Beyonce bashing) is very heartbreaking. In fact, the thread is very nonspecific - what actually sucked about the show? If you want your thread to have some relevance beyond reject, social, grade school commentary, tell the rest of us who haven't attended her concert...yet, say something with a little bit more meat on it. Sometimes these threads can be highly informative, sometimes just plain one dimensional: depending on the intention of who is writing them.
