NOW, Andre is slated to play a cat who was a good foot SHORTER than Andre?.....whatever.

There's only 7 inches in it folks.... AFAIK Andre is 5'10" and Sammy was 5'3"

So the height issue is not as big a deal as people are making out.

WHAT?

A) He's way 2 tall.
B) Can he dance like Sammy did when he was young?
C) Don Cheadle set the bar VERY high in the 'Rat Pack' movie, as Sammy. (Joe Montegna did a damn good Dean Martin 2, but Ray Liotta BUTCHERED Sinatra)

Making a man appear 7 inches shorter won't be a problem for these film makers...

Can he dance? I don't know if anyone really knows.

Can he act? According to this http://en.wikipedia.org/w...ilmography he's been in 8 films. Somehow I've managed to avoid them all.
Who's seen any films he has appeared in?

5'10 is pretty tall for a person to play another who is orginally 5'3. Plus Andre is gonna be wearin' shoes, that's another inch, 2 inches on Andre's already 5'10.
Some people think I'm kinda cute
But that don't compute when it comes 2 Y-O-U.

The height thing is a non-issue. Philip Seymour Hoffman is 5'10" and he played Truman Capote who was 5'3".

I think Wayne Brady could pull this off...Sammy was the full Package..Singing , Dancing acting.. .. Even though Wayne seems a bit Corny.. he has the most talent out of the Bunch..
Don Ch.. Did a great Job in the Rat pack Movie.. so he would be my 2nd choice..

FarrahMoan

I know this will sound funny, but "Young Lloyd" (Who also looks like a "Black" version of mob-movie legend "Frank Vincent") would do wonders in the resemblance department. I don't know about his acting skills. Maybe they could get "Jamie Foxx" to voiceover like in a bad kung-fu movie for the young singer.

Sure, but he did look out of place. It was only because he was such a good actor that he pulled it off. Toby Jones looks and acts the part MUCH better in Infamous.

How about Romany Malco? He's 5'8" and can dance.

It's about as short as you're going to get for a black actor around today. You'll be hard pushed to find many "names" under 5'6" unless you go for an unknown... or Prince biggrin

Maybe he'll act like he has some real talent, that would really be some acting lol the reality is Sammy had more talent in his pinky toe than Andre3000 will ever have.

I don't understand what this means - he pulled it off, and he's a good actor but he looked out of place? That doesn't make sense to me. Toby Jones was good, too, but I liked Hoffman more.

I would prefer a GOOD actor with dancing skills in this role. Andre may do an adequate job but he does not have the chops 4 this role.

Tommy Davidson also does all three and is probally better the Wayne.

I meant that you're always going to look out of place if you're about a foot taller than the person you're supposed to be playing, no matter how good an actor you are.

Let's pretend that that stupid MJ TV movie was any good and that Flex Alexander was talented lol He'd still be completely the wrong height, build and colour.

yea... Wayne brady does an imitation of Sammy Davis Jr. often on Whose Line- or used to, since the show is cancelled. But his impression was quite good. And any fan of Whose Line knows that Wayne Brady can sing and dance. His acting abilities for a drama film are to be questioned however.

I do agree with wat Slave2daGroove said- that it will be harder to imitate Sammy since whoever plays his character won't have any time to hang out w/ him the way Foxx did w/ Ray Charles. While he may have movies and pictures- it doesn't compare to interacting with the person himself.

if you like Outkast...
and their album concepts
you should get into the movie

although it uses music
found on Speakerboxx/The Love Below
and Big Boi & Andre Presents...
more than the actual Idlewild soundtrack/album
I'm sort of "Stankonist" (if you will)
so I HAD to have this in my collection cool

coolest part of the movie
is that "She [Slowly] Lives In My Lap" scene...
I used to think it was creepy as hell
(which it is) but I understand it now...

the Patton chick (Robin Thicke's wife)
who plays Shelly B (aka Angel Davenport)
is absolutely STUNNING in this movie love

aforementioned, if you like Outkast
you'll dig it
it sucks ass though lol

(it's almost worst than Graffiti Bridge
...keyword being ALMOST)

and those who matter don't mind."
