Wait hold up--how are you gonna have this list without Nick Ashford of Ashford and Simpson??? He had the ultimate curl to complete his "lion's mane" hairstyle. A trendsetter if there ever was one.

As for the Jacksons, all the males (including Pape Joe) had curls. But Mike's always looked a little dry and lopsided to me. And we all know that a dried-out curl is NOT a good curl.

As for DeBarge, Sheila E. and Prince, they didn't have curls but their styles were very Jheri Curl-esque and I bet you that was the look they were going for. Back when I was young and youthful (and quite silly) my friend and I made up a name for these styles--we called it the Jheri Fluff (don't ask). lurking

if this list is from AOL, they obviously don't have anyone with a "real clue" over there. this thread would be quite the education for them as it is i'm sure for the many people "lurking" on it.

RFTW tops ANY list about Jheri curls and music. and i saw a Deele album cover recently, i cracked up laughing not only at the curls, but how feminine they looked.

i like it when it's a lil dried out, cause when it's all wet(like it's supposed to be) it looks messy and greasy lol

Don't forget the 80's videos of the Bar-Kays. Or the Midnight or Atlantic Starr videos. "Curl City".

And I've always wanted to know..who is Shelia's guitar player in that video?

that's her sister Zina.

Her whole family is miming playing as the band in that video.

Peter Michael is fake playing the soprano sex (and her love interest!) and Zina is miming the bass I believe (not guitar), and Juan is palying drums or percussion.

i forgot who else is in the video. I don't htink she has any other brothers or sisters.

If a Jheri Curl is a work of art, then this may be the Mona Lisa of all curls.
