I think the standards are set according to musical genres, but race is a factor in that as well. People judge artist by race not talent.

I get the impression from reading these posts, that white people are incapable of singing R&B. Well, what about people like Hall & Oats or the Average White Band. Funny how you find excuses for Robin "white" Thicke since I found a terrible performance of him that shows how poor singer he is on stage. Oh but Robin on the other hand is also a writer. Robin Thicke is supposed to be a real SOUL singer ? And he's not even able to perform properly his own stuff on stage.
