She's not all that to look at. IMO if euro myths shape your standard of beauty i understand but if you you got an aversion to large noggins i suggest you avoid Hollywood and the runway; its a prerequisite

I caught her Friday morning on the "Today" show trying to sing "SOS". I'm not lying when I say she didn't sing ONE damned note on pitch. And that was the first song in her set.

At first I thought I didn't like her tone but she had vocal skills but after seeing her on the Today Show, the Mtv Movie Awards and 106th & Park, I'm convinced that she belongs in the ranks with Ashanti (when she first started - she got better) and Cassie. Her musical arrangements for her performances are strong. The have to be with singing like that. She sounds like somebody's choking a crow! I know she's pretty (to some) and popular right now but that voice is...eh, eh, eh.
It makes me wonder what the hell does Jay-Z sees in Rihanna as a artist OR vocalist? EDIT: Then again, Umbrella is a good track with catchy beats: http://www.youtube.com/wa...rTUhkN7RFA [Edited 6/11/07 16:54pm]

krayzie said: Rhianna can sing, but she's not a great r&b singer. She needs more practice.
Singing r&b music is harder than singing pop. But I don't think she's a "bad" singer. I agree here. I think she can sing. She is not a "great" singer! But this is "pop" music. Pop music isn't really there for people who want to hear great vocalist! They just want to hear great "songs". I heard her live on "the view" and she sang very well. I "have" seen some performances where she could've done better. The girl is still young and maturing. Yeah, she is attractive which will help her out. But hey, nowadays being attractive is a prerequisite for getting a contract. You can't blame her for the demise in our culture. Oh, and I DIG that song "Umbrella"! It is catchy and has great production.

of course she can't sing. your forehead can't sing, can it? well neither can she. i do like that "Umbrella" song though. for about 2 minutes. then i have to turn it off. it goes on too long for what it is. Unfortunately. Hopefully after looking at her performances, she'll have the good sense to lipsync from here on out. Jay-Z was thinking with his d**k when he signed her. To be honest, she's not even that hot. She's got the Tyra Banks forehead without the Tyra Banks body to match it.

the reason I asked
is because I saw a performance of "SOS" on one of those dance reality shows and she lip synced to a pre-recorded track and still sounded horrible ROTFL BTW, I HATE "Umbrella" I absolutely HATE that song! I tried to like it... I really did... because I love "SOS" and I vowed I would check the girl out from that point on out I downloaded her album but have yet to take a listen because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."

theodore said: Unbelievable that she managed to get a record deal. And age is not an excuse. I've seen children under the age of 10 that could sing her under a table. The music industry is being polluted with a bunch of pretty girls that can't hold a tune. Why don't these chicks become models instead of trying to work their way into the entertainment industry via singing. No one is saying that they can't make a living off their beauty, but don't use the music industry to do it when you can't sing. This is similiar to what talentless rappers like 50 Cent do...use the music industry to become a business men because they know it's much easier than starting a non-entertainment business the traditional way.
