I haven't heard it in years. From what I recall...it's not that great. VERY EXPERIMENTAL!!! "Send One Your Love" is great though. I haven't even purchased it on cd yet...only on vinyl. I refuse to pay $20 for that one.

My favourite of his. One of the few albums where even with the excessive use of synths it still manages to sound warm and natural.

It is DEFINITELY NOT a "Conversation Peace". It is probably the worst Stevie album I have ever purchased. barf

'Secret Life of Plants' is brilliant. The critics hated it, and so he set out 2 record 'Hotter Than July', in part, 2 prove a point.

Beautiful music, and it gets funky 2.

Peace.

I discovered this album in 94, and loved it !
Glad I got it, since Motown seems to dislike it so much they won't put it back in print.

I swear, I hate Motown.

Yeah, but it's import isn't it?

I stil lhave my copy, but I wish it more accessable for people to go into most stores and get it like the rest of the albums.

Yes, it's only available used or as an import because it's out of print.

It's a great album. It only pales in comparison to his brilliant '70s albums. The songs are experimental, but many of them are fantastic: "Power Flower," "Come Back As a Flower," "Black Orchid," "Outside My Window," "A Seed's a Star," "Ecclesiastes"... I can't recommend it enough! Get it ASAP (no pun intended).

Ignore them. Get it! It's Stevie and it was released in the '70s -- what more do you need?

This is one of those albums that I desperately want to like, but I can never seem to really get into it boxed "Send One Your Love" and "Outside My Window" are superb, and I gotta give Stevie credit for doing such a bold, experimental album.I just wish I could appreciate this album like so many of you do.

btw,has anyone ever seen the movie? Was the movie ever released?

It may just be too much to digest all at once. I like the album enough to listen to it all the way through at times, but I usually just listen to my playlist of highlights I made. You could try it (or your own picks):

1. Earth's Creation
2. Same Old Story
3. Power Flower
4. Send One Your Love
5. Outside My Window
6. Black Orchid
7. Ecclesiastes
8. Come Back As a Flower
9. A Seed's a Star/Tree Medley
10. The Secret Life of Plants
11. Finale

btw,has anyone ever seen the movie? Was the movie ever released?

I don't think it was ever released. I'd definitely be interested in seeing it.

There was a clip floating around on youtube of Steve singing the title track. Supposedly the clip was filmed for the part of the documentary where the credits would roll. It was really pretty. I would really love to see that whole film.

I bought this album about a year ago from Ebay. I think it's a beautiful album. It takes a little getting used to but it's worth it IMO.

I love Stevie's fallsetto on "Power Flower"

"Send One Your Love" is one of the most beautiful ballads I've ever heard.

This is album is brilliant. Buy it!!
