I turned on the TV and there was a damn ball game on. I might catch it tonight on the local channel if I get off work in time.

Interesting episode, Minnie was so talented. I'd never heard that I'm A Woman song, it was kinda funky. Stevie's medley was cool also

I thought it was a cool episode, even though there wasn't a Soul Train line. Yeah, Stevie's medley was cool.

We get Chic and High Energy next week, SoulAlive said it's an episode from the 1979-1980 Season. It should be great!

My eyes watered during Stevie's medley, it was beautiful. I hope today's "singers" take note on what a talent Minnie was.

I got home Saturday night and there was a telethon on the local channel that "Soul Train" comes on. I caught the episode early this morning at 3:30 a.m. on WGN. Once again, if a ball game comes on, take that damn "American Idol" bullshit off the air, NOT "Soul Train". lol

Suprisingly, I enjoyed the episode. There were a lot of Minnie Riperton songs played that I had never heard of before.

Now.....get back to the ass-shakin' episodes.

I think the upcoming episode will feature Chic performing "Rebels Are We". If so, that one is from 1980 and should be great.

That WGN ball game messed it up for me too, I really wanted to see this episode. It didn't come on my local channel either, I set up my timer to record it when it's supposed to come on in the early am, I go to try to watch the tape and I found myself watching Ferris Bueller.

I agree. this should be a good one. I am ready to jam. Looking at the play list for last weekend's episode I am surprised that minnie ripperton didn't sing inside my love. still sounds like it was a great show.

I just checked the TV Guide website and here are the details:

Chic and High Inergy are guests. Music: "Good Times" and "My Feet Keep Dancing."

I was wrong about "Rebels Are We". That song came out in the fall of 1980 and this episode aired in March. I'm sure a lot of jams from late 1979 will be played during the episode.

The week after that will be:

The Spinners and Con Funk Shun perform. Music includes "Working My Way Back to You" and "Got To Be Enough."

This should be a good one also. "Got To Be Enough" is my favorite Con-funk-shun song.

Don is bringing on the good groups now. Brick, Lakeside, and now Con-funk-shun. Don, I'm still waiting for The Barkays. lol

Backstrokin' - Fatback
Sexy Dancer - Prince
Firecracker - Mass Production
Sure Shot - Crowne Heights Affair
And The Beat Goes On - The Whispers

Apparently, Don Cornelius is reading our posts. Many times when I want to see what the upcoming episodes will be, I will go to either Yahoo or Google and search for "Best of Soul Train". In the search results, our threads here on the org will come up. If Don wants to see how people are reacting to the shows, he probably searches the internet the same way.

Anway, hi Don! Thank you so much for showing the old episodes and keep up the good work. Whenever they show the last old episode before they start the new season, I am going to start an appreciation thread for Don Cornelius for showing the old episodes and also for The Audience for doing such exceptional threads after each episode. When that day comes, the mods need to make that thread a sticky.
