She was trying to cash in on Olivia Newton-John who was hugely popular in the early 80's. She worked with Olivia's long time producer John Farrar on I PARALYZE.

Right. I didn't know that and then figured out why it sounded a bit familar. THis should have been her "Physical". It was hot! Also, apprently one of Cher's favorites. Too bad she never did it in those Farwell shows. Wonder if she cares about that or what?

I guess it is now. Too bad but I assume all those people that wanted it bought it in that window of time.

Something really interesting happened right after Cher hit it big again with "Believe". The smarter labels all decided to flood the market in order to capatlize on this new found popurality. Maybe it worked and maybe they just sold to Cher fans. Considering Cher had been on so many labels, a lot of people got in on the act. Among the releases after "Believe" and before it's follow up included "I Paraylze" (at the time, 1982, Cher was signed to a Sony offspring label, however, the CD release was from a label Varese, which I think handles a lot of soundtrack work, "If I Coud Turn Back Time" (a hits set from Geffen that was long overdue...a similar collection came out in Europe years before and was popular), "Black Rose" (which was actually a group Cher was in but for the import rerelease, which featured very different artwork, it is credited to her on top of the CD). and "Bitterseet White Light" (a collection of ballads). I think there was also a double disc of mostly MCA era hits called "The Way Of Love".

Not rereleased? Well, at the time Cher was signed to Warners (might still be). And for some reason Warners did not the do the same, even thoough she was on this label during the mid-seventies, which was a commerical lull for her but a creative high where she released the fan favorite "Stars" along with some follow ups including a duet album with then husband Greg Allman. It's still a mystery why these albums have not been released on CD if not by now MP3 form. I'm sure younger fans would still be interested. I am. I have "Stars" and "I'd Rather Believe In You" on LP and like them a lot.

My favourite Cher song is her cover of Dr. John's 'I Walk On Guilded Splinters'. It sounds like Jefferson Airplane or something. It's really wiggy.

If you just Google Bubblegum Machine Cher, you'll come across it on the net.
