Petitions Started Against J-Lo Here are the urls to a couple of petitions started against Jennifer Lopez by folks on the BET message boards. As you recall, J-Lo caused a ruckus by saying her music is "not of black origin."

I guess I was inadvertently boycotting her anyway. I don't spend money on her music or movies. Nothing would change by signing anything. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes. | |

yes it would...at least then the media would get wind and hopefully knock some reality in to her rank arse... | |

If her "music" has nothing to do with afro american music that's a good news for the afro american music since her records suck & have absolutely no soul, she's stupid but certainly not a racist. | |

--- J-LO has no problem using black rappers on her re-mixes to sell her records to a black audience. The re-mixes are more popular than the orignal songs. What she is saying it's o.k for African-Americans to buy records I just do not want to be associated with them in any other way. It is appalling and I am glad a petition has been put up. The bad press may bring her ass into reality. Don't forget this is the same chick who used the "n" word in one of her songs. | |

I have bigger, more important fish to fry than a bush leaguer like "J Lo". This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes. | |

Ms. Lopez has no problem with using blacks, but now that she's at the top, she wants to distance herself away from the blacks and go Hollywood with Ben Affleck. She'll use Affleck until she gets an Oscar then she'll dump him. But that's his problem. These petitions were started to call her out for the BS she perpetrated on black people. | |

One question: WHY oh why did Black people buy into her shit in the first place?? Co-signed by a rapper or not, her shit has been weak from the giddy-up. Why can't people see through the bullshit when it smells from miles away?
What the hell, I'll sign it. | |

What the hell, I'll sign it. It's because they were "charmed" by her, I guess. She gave them the impression that she was down with black music in the beginning (even though her music doesnt sound black to me at all) and now she's showing her true colors and everybody's surprised. | |

While she did use the "N" word the lyrics were written by Ashanti and Ja Rule. | |

And BTW, Jennifer Lopez is only a decent looking Latina woman with a big ass. I have seen plenty that would make J-Lo look like a goblin. | |

"J-LO has no problem using black rappers ", hey I guess they didn't work for her for free no? No one tortured them to rap of her records, so there is certainly more important reasons to be angry than her stupidity (she seems to not even know the African roots of the latin music, it's not really a bad thing either since her & ricky martin are fake latin artists) | |

I know it's bad for just anyone to use that word, but as long as it's such a bad word, how about we raise hell over anyone that uses it. Black rappers, white rednecks, Prince, everybody. Why do alot of black people use it toward each other as an affectionate term? The word has got to go... | |

http://www.petitiononline...ition.html http://www.petitiononline...ition.html The girl just needs to be 'schooled' and apologize that's all. I think it was just an act and a 'saying' of ignorance. It is very offensive though, and I think it will blemish her career in singing if she doesn't do something about it fast. I pity the moves she be makes sometimes... What the hell, I'll sign it. It's because they were "charmed" by her, I guess. She gave them the impression that she was down with black music in the beginning (even though her music doesnt sound black to me at all) and now she's showing her true colors and everybody's surprised. I get confused with these statements sometimes because I live close to where J.Lo used to live, and mostly everyone, 'hispanics' and 'blacks' listen to and are into the SAME kind of music, and basically have the same influences. To say that she was never down from the beginning, I don't know about that, but basically, I just think she happens to be very, very ignorant, and giving into the being 'Latina' hype kind of thing, whatever that means, although that was never really sensed from her in the 'hispanic' community either, so I don't know if I should say that, but anyway, obviously, J.Lo never cared to do research on her roots, because Latin music--like salsa, meregue, bachata, have African roots in it, so you can never label anything, or say something is not. Also, J.Lo acts like she doesn't have her screws tight in the right place, yeah she got the drive and she got the fame, but she let people make her, instead of making up herself. Although her debut did have a mixture of R&B and other songs with 'latin' rhythm most of what was marketed was the bubblegum popular music, and some of the others were hardly heard of. "Waiting for tonight" probably got some 'latin' flavor in it, and the song she did with Mark Anthony, 'No me ames' was a hit but didn't really 'make' her, so when she plunged right into hip-hop music, and became labeled a hip-hop artist by MTV, it made her look like she's confused, or is just being pushed around. Really, that's why I just feel sorry for her. I think what she needs to do is start engaging in coversation with some of those BIG Heads that push her around, so that she knows exactly where she's coming from and where she's going. But from where she's coming from at this point, it looks almost impossible... People are talking about it and they are very offended by her comments, so she's best to do something, for the better, if she wishes to save her as* this time.
