There's a shame. sad Pity you didn't enjoy it.

They weren't touring anywhere near me this tour so I gave it a miss. But I've seen them live previously and they were amazing. Even the (non-fan) friend I took was impressed.

And Neil smiled at me. smile

But I am PSB fam/gullible consumer so I'll buy any shit they fling my way. confused lol

I happened to really really enjoy the tour. All of the songs were great and it was a good performance vocally from Neil. Don't know if it was all on tape...that doesn't seem like them. However this seemed to be a lot more electronic and pared down show than I have normally seen. It still sounded good though.

It was all on tape, save for when Neil did "Home and Dry" on an acoustic guitar. I don't think Chris Lowe's synthesizers were even plugged in. I thought it was a major letdown after the Release Tour in 2002. For that tour, they had a live band, minimal set and some very cool reworkings of their old material. It was intimate and fresh. For this last tour, I was upset that it was basically Neil doing karaoke over what sounded like the album versions of their songs. Don't get me started on their back-up dancers. It seemed like a major retread.

I think that's their typical show. Neil does sing live, though.

I saw them for the Nightlife tour and was pretty stinkin' bored/disappointed. That said, it's hard to do electronic music live and make it really exciting.

I hate to bring up the old, old, old debate, but when I saw Erasure in 2005, they worked it. The live arrangements were pretty similar to their studio counterparts, but the mix was exciting and the PA was booming. It also helps that Andy Bell was considerably more animated than Neil. That was a fun show.

I will reiterate that I thought PSB did their best with the Release tour and album. It's a very unpopular opinion, but all it took was an adventurous album and a song-focused, intimate tour to make me fall in love with them all over again.

This was the basic set-up when I saw them in 2002 (minus a giant curtain of Christmas lights behind the drummer): http://www.youtube.com/wa...QqoEHPL5eg

To me, that performance is a lot more dynamic than this, in 2006: http://www.youtube.com/wa...ziGKpbrQxY
