Anyone here dig EMMYLOU HARRIS?

I grew up listening to her and I still love her so very much...in a time when 'alt-country' is so trendy...Emmylou was among the pioneers that helped begin this 'niche-genre'...she and the late-great Gram Parsons could be considered the 'Parents of Americana'...

I have all her albums and I was just wonderin if any of you listened to her stuff...she's everywhere...she's guested on so many albums that Sheryl Crow and Snoop Dogg are still tryna catch up LOL!

My fav albums

-Wrecking Ball
-Elite Hotel
-Luxury Liner
-Roses In The Snow
-Pieces of the Sky (her debut with covers of Burrito Bros, Beatles, and Merle Haggard songs)

Her voice is so angelic and she's such a beautiful person...if you havent heard her...you should...even if you dont like 'country'...she's more than that!

She's amazing!

I love Emmylou Harris and Gram Parsons. Wrecking ball is one of my favorite albums of the 90's. Grievous Angel (Gram parsons) is one of my all time favorites. i got all her 70's albums. elite hotel and luxury liner are the best. i think i'm gonna go and put on poncho and lefty right now. have anyone heard townes van zandts original of that song. Townes rules.

Townes does rule!

Nice to hear another Emmylou/Gram fan speak up!

I meant to add 'Quarter Moon In A Ten Cent Town' just for the inclusion of "Making Believe" I believe thats the album the song was on...

Her versions of "Sin City" and " Sweet Dreams" on ELITE HOTEL are just breathtaking...

Linda Ronstadt does great backup on 'Til I Gain Control Again'...

seriously I could go on and on and on!

Oh...I loved RED DIRT GIRL too..not as much as the others but she did write every song on that one!

Yep. I like her a lot.
The first three albums especially.
She and Gram were fabulous together!

I also love the Return of the grievous angel -album, which is a wonderful tribute to Gram. Emmylou is there also.

YES!

That tribute album is great too...I believe Emmy was the producer or exec-producer...

I love that she covered 'Sin City' with Beck...

The Wilco, Whiskeytown, and most especially the Lucinda Williams covers are great...(Lucinda...another one to talk about for days!)

I went to her "concert for landmines" tour in january this year at annexet in sweden (where prince will be playing on oct 22nd). It was a fantastic concert that featured John Prine, Nancy Griffith, Steve Earle and Elvis Costello. I almost started to cry when she started the show with "red dirt girl". Have you heard the debut album of steve young "rock, salt and nails". he has a great voice.

I have not heard that yet...is that out in the US??

I saw Emmylou when I was 7 back in 1982 and again 2 years ago with Linda Ronstadt in Tuscon (Linda's hometown)...

If you really wanna feel somethin...listen to Emmy/Linda do Patti Griffin's "Fallin Down" on WESTERN WALL/TUCSON SESSIONS...simply amazing

I'm going on a road trip from L.A. to Phoenix tomorrow...Emmylou is always a great part of that trip...cant wait...great stuff!

I'm takin the PORTRAITS box set so I dont think I'll have time to hear anything else LOL...

i love falling down. the steve earle album was released in the late sixties and features gram parsons on organ on one song. i dont know if the album is released on cd though. i think there's a steve young cd collection released. he has only released some 8 albums in 30 years because of record company trouble. all albums on different labels. apparantely he's very hard to get along with.

I figured...

I have most of Steve Earl's stuff...I still have yet to grab the new one that came out last week...

on the Steve Earle subject...Emmylou's 'GOODBYE' on WRECKING BALL makes my sad everytime!

I just realized that Chrissy Hynde (Pretenders) sang this for the Demi Moore "Career Ending" film G.I. JANE

but Earls and Emmy's ring in my heart and mind forever!

Goodbye is one of the best songs of the nineties. i love it. the best version i've heard was steve earle live, alone with an acoustic guitar back in 1996.

nod OF COURSE !! Love her 2 bits ! Heard her live touring the Wrecking Ball album & enjoyed myself tremendously(wish i'd gone 2 both nights!). Not 2 sure how it went down generally though, as people seemed 2 b expecting a good ol' country evening, not Buddy Miller tearing it up on the geetah.

"Love Hurts" with GP is possibly my all-time favourite duet - maybe not 2 surprising considering it's a fantastic song, beautifully sung by both of my very favourite country singers.
