If you have satellite, you're screwed. That's the main drawback for having satellite - No VH1Soul.

Yeah, they play much too much 90s hip-hop. I know the programmers don't know shit about black music but DAMN! I get tired of them pretending them that the GAP Band, Zapp, EWF and many more didn't have videos. They try to keep black people playing instruments out of the picture. It might cause a change. They make too much off hip-hop to halt its promotion. They don't play much 80s R&B or 70s soul but they play a hell of a lot of 70s/80s rock on VH-1 Classic. Racists bastards are always trying to rewrite history to suit their marketing purposes.

Then you should be able to get it. Maybe call your provider and ask them to add it.

Great? Not even. Its a BETTER channel than BET and that's what the jerks at VH-1 are looking for it to be. When they first started, they played a lot of soul. They had to because they were trying to gain an audience. Once the BET takeover was complete, they said "fuck it, we got 'em now" and stopped. They play too much RAP! Granted, its good to see shows like "LiveSoul" and "SubSoul" but they'll play a couple of hours of 90s hip-hop when they could be playing MORE SOUL. If they wanted to, they could easily create a show for VH-1 Jams where they play all of the old hip-hop songs and call it "Tribute" or something but instead, they put it on VH-1 Soul and try to pass it off to the soul crowd. Its better than the other options but its still weak compared to what it could be. They need a show like "Next" that used to be on BET back in the day that showcased new artists and lesser known artists in the genre. They NEED a new program director, but hell so does BET, Mtv, VH-1...their whole package of paid-for-play music video channels.

You gotta point. But that's the shows I usually watch, "Live soul" or "Soul School". When they play good soul music. I get pretty upset when they play hip-hip on a damn so-called soul station. I always check the station for good soul music. And when I do they be playin' some bullshit

Don't count on VH1 Soul getting a new program director anytime soon. Viacom eliminated 90% of their staff on all of their digital music channels (MTV Jams, MTV Hits, MTV Tres, VH1 Country, VH1 Classic, VH1 Megahits) and about 20% of the staff at their flagship networks (MTV, MTV2, VH1) due to budget constraints. A big reason for that was because the ratings of their flagship channels went down 10% from 2005. MTV went down even more than the others, but VH1 kept the Viacom networks afloat with their celebreality shows (Flavor of Love, Celebrity Fit Club, I Love New York, My Fair Brady). They seriously need to show more music, but as long as these crappy reality shows get huge ratings, this is all we'll see in the near future.

If you're on satellite forget those sad pseudo-soul video shows.
Heart & Soul or Soul Town via SIRIUS on Dish Network.

That's what's on if i'm not checking out Planet Jazz on SIRIUS.

I'm sure DirectTV has some comparable programming on XM.

I'm not sure if you were being sarcastic or not but I was being serious. As evidence, I present damn near every music video in the R&B and hip-hop genre. You only see instruments in the "neo-soul" type videos, videos with the Roots and a select few R&B singers (Brian McKnight, etc.)...oh, and in the "Party Like A Rock Star" video where they are playing air guitar while holding a real one. no no no! I can turn on FUSE or Mtv HitList and see instruments all day long. I turn on R&B videos and see people partying and dancing; I see cars and jewels but no instruments. Out of sight; out of mind. What's worse is there seems to be an entire generation of kids trying to do music without knowing music. Its a shame to me.

Blacks dont play instruments, they're only good for rapping and playing basketball.
