She did look a little bit like a Younger Version of Vanity IMHO in some pictures.

Moonbeam

It would have been tight! Songs like "Rock the Boat" and "It's Whatever" carry a distinct Princely sound, so I'm sure they could collaborate well. I miss her too. sad

I always thought "More Than A Woman" was sort of Princely musically.

I wish I could hear Prince-ly sounds in music like you guys do, I just don't have the ear I guess. In all the times I've listened to that album, I've never once thought of Prince or his sound...

Hmmm...what can I give you as an example? How about "I can Be?"(the guitar in it) and "Read between the Lines"?
I just wished he would he teamed up with her...that would have been sweet. sad

Admittedly, for me "More Than A Woman" is the guitar-ish VIBE I get from it, it doesn't exactly sound like Prince, but to me it sounds like something he would play, although there is no lead guitar on it. And the arrangement makes me think of Prince. There's something intangible there that has a Princely vibe for me.

I don't think anything else on the album sounds like Prince though. But what Aaliyah was obviously striving for with the producers and writers she worked with was creativity that didn't sound like the status quo, and that's hard to find among most successful (i.e. mainstream) recording artists today. I guess I relate that aspect to Prince too during his artistic peaks...when he's usually so far ahead of everyone else in the mainstream.

Probably. And if this was 1992 instead of 2002 he would probably date her first.
