Oh lawd-JANET & JUSTIN in a duet "Take me now" (Sep. 27, 2002) *You may or may not be ready for NSYNC-er Justin Timberlake's solo debut, but you'd better prep for his hot duets. The pop singer says his new album, "Justified," is "something new that was just completely me," he told MTV, but the CD isn't just completely him, per se.
The album, due in stores November 5, features cameos and duets from hip-hop hitmakers Bubba Sparxxx and Clipse, who appear on the first single "Like I Love You," which is currently burning up urban and pop airwaves. He also spends time with up-an-comers, including Vanessa Marquis. The music network, however, says that by far the hottest collabo on the new set is Timberlake's track with Janet Jackson on the song "(And She Said) Take Me Now," calling it "easily the most sexually graphic song Timberlake has ever recorded." Of course. It's Janet, dammit. "I wrote the chorus from a girl's perspective," Timberlake explained, "and I just thought we should get a female on the part. Her name was the first that popped up in my head just because I love her voice. It sounds like feathers. I mean, she sounds like an angel. So I asked her, and she listened to the track and loved it. So we went in the studio, just me and her, and I produced the vocals." Mmhmm. Wonder why he found it necessary to mention it was just the two of them together in that recording studio. (EURWEB) I feel mighty sad 4 the sistah

Like, Janet Jackson? Oh lawd...
She really needs to stop chasing the pop top 10 and leave that to the younger generation - the Britneys and Nsyncs of this world. I really wish Janet's music could have grown up a bit. All of her fans are much older now, and the kids don't wanna hear her stuff. I really like Janet a lot but I've always wished she'd do a more mature, intelligent album. The last album sucked so much! Velvet Rope had some great moments though, pity she didn't continue in that direction...

Nah, the song is called: "Where Is It?" And it is about how Janet can't see his dick because it is so small.
All you others say Hell Yea!!

Come on Janet, get with the program and do something for all your fans who have grown up with you! Quit the kiddy shit, I'm tired of EVERY single sounding exactly like either "Escapade" or "Love Will Never Do".

I see it's become the latest trend around here to rip on Janet...I'll defend her TO THE END.

Ian, you know what you said about blind patriotism. Don't be a blind admirer. You can't honestly say that you approve of such a move. Janet hooking up with the hottest teen pop act. It's like how Madonna got with Ricky Martin. You love both ladies completely but you have to admit, they've both had their share of fuck-ups. I can only think of 1 or 2 artists who have had a flawless career and janet's not one of them.

True, true, but neither is Madonna. However, I still love Janet and I will check out her new song, despite the Justin influence.

you're right, she's not.

Who would be? Bjork for sure Joy Division would be except they let Ian be by himself. Bjork is the only one, I reckon.

yup, those are the contenders.
actually, Gillian Gilbert admits do killing Ian herself. So it wasn't a mistake, it was a career move for New Order. Joy Division remains perfect. [This message was edited Fri Sep 27 17:28:03 PDT 2002 by TRON]

Just to save confusion, please call Moonbeam "Moonbeam" and me "Ian" - it gets too confusing otherwise!
Ah I still love Janet but the last album was such a stinker! Not up the quality of "Rhythm Nation", "Janet" or "The Velvet Rope" - not by a long shot. Janet is still great she just needs to team up with the right people... instead of people who keep trying to make her take on the Britney audience.

Here is my theory...Janet is so successful that she can
basically do what she wants to do and sing whatever song she wants to and it is not going to her in anyway musically. If she wants to sing a song with Justin, then that is fine. Janet has always been one of those ladies to not be afraid to do much of anything muscially. What maybe a fuck up to others is her just being herself like she has always been. Besides I do not think that Janet would not work with someone on a song if she did not think the song or the person had any kind of talent or substance.

i really dont have a problem with this...i actually appreciate the fact that janet keeps her shlock duets off her own albums..
however, i did like her duets with Herb Albert (when are they gonna get back together...there sounds blended go perfect...right there with wendy and lisa's backing vocals on prince songs), her song with Luther and her new song out with that rapper guy... all the other ones sucked!! (ohh wait, i gotta soft spot for SCREAM..that was an okay song made better by an awesome video)

Janet is still great she just needs to team up with the right people... instead of people who keep trying to make her take on the Britney audience. The same strategy was used with her brother Michael. MJ was paired up with some of the hottest young stars, like Britney and N'Sync, on TV specials and award shows. It was a obvious ploy to get a younger audience to get into MJ, but it didn't work. MJ is in his mid-40s. He's old enough to be Britney's dad. And many of Britney's and N'Sync fans are barely in their teens. Janet is 36, and she is also old enough to be Britney's parent. Both Janet and MJ really, really are going to have to come up with a way to start maturing as their audience matures. Janet has a maturing fanbase and so does MJ. If they both want to keep their fans as they grow older, they should stop trying to keep up with the latest teen fads. Both Janet and Michael should leave the teenie bopper ploys alone and concentrate on moving in on Madonna's territory -- the dance charts and club music fans.

Yup... I mean, I've been a fan of Janet since she was Charlene in Diff'rent Strokes In 1986 I thought Control was great, as was Rhythm Nation etc... but you know, its 2002 now and her music really hasn't evolved.
It's funny when you see the cynically created MJ album "Invincible" (an obvious attempt to tackle the modern pop market and compete with all the kiddy bands) and stack it beside Prince's The Rainbow Children. Prince and Prince's music has grown up along with his fanbase. MJ and Janet's music really hasn't.

You're talking like their musicians which they are NOT. Of course Prince music has grown up, but he was in that same rut trying to go for the modern pop market for awhile too. The Rainbow Children and the One Night Alone tour really made a lot of longtime fams breath a sigh of relief seeing that he still very much is the undistputed genius of modern music.
