Exactly. He should be locked up and beaten for abandoning the funk. Better yet, Rick James should have tied him up and burned his ass with a crack pipe. lol

I gave up on Lionel ever since he turned in his funk badge, and started singing these lame-ass pop songs.

If you wanna hear Lionel's best song as a solo artist, listen to "Love Will Find A Way" from the 'Can't Slow Down' album music

"Say You,Say Me" is mid-80s,commercial,pop balladry garbage. That song makes me wanna vomit.

I actually like the "Can't Slow Down" album, but "Say you Say Me" was the worse song on the album.

I agree w/ Soul Alive and the others.."Love Will Find".. was one of coolest solo joints. If I'm correct there was even a video for it.

Lionel is starting to embrace his Commodores past a little bit. The BET concert he did recently was pretty good.

Love Will Find A Way is in my top 10 songs of all time. It has such a slinky, stripped down groove to it.

Actually,"Say You Say Me" didn't appear on 'Can't Slow Down' (thank God) lol

It appears on the 'Dancing On The Ceiling' album.

Nope,it's an original Lionel Richie composition. It stands out on the album....a really soulful,Quiet Storm track that wouldn't have sounded out of place on a Frankie Beverly and Maze album.

lionel broke my heart when he left the commodores but it was inevitable because he was in demand as a songwriter and producer. Even some of the material on in the pocket was watered down. Nothing can take the place of that good old funk and soul from the commodores early motown days but i still dug a couple of songs from lionel's first 2 solo efforts but when he came out with that dancing on the ceiling bullshit that was when i kicked lionel to the curb as a solo artist.

Me too! It was the 'Dancing On The Ceiling' album that made me lose interest in Lionel. He had totally soldout by that point.I still cringe whenever I see the video for the title track neutral It was hard to believe that this was the same Lionel who gave us all those jams with the Commodores back in the 70s.

I TOTALLY AGREE! After "Can't Slow Down" was such a big hit, Lionel decided 2 go stright pop for the next album and it was HORRIBLE.

"Love Will Find A Way" is my favorite solo Lionel Song. It is great vocally as well as musically.

I agree,"Love Will Find A Way" is Lionel at his best! I can't believe they didn't release it as a single. It's the most soulful thing he's ever done as a solo act.

'Say You,Say Me' is awful, and I'm not too fond of the 'Dancing On The Ceiling' album either. It leans a little too heavily on the pop side neutral

I love "Love Will Find Away"

Say You Say Me was NOT on the Can't Slow Down album. It was on the White Nights soundtrack and also on Dancing On The Ceiling.

You are thinking about "Love Will Conquer All" from Dancing On The Ceiling. It was a single and there is a video for it. "Love Will Find A Way" was not a single.

i read on all music guide article about lionel and reviewer on that site amazed me when he said :"that lionel richie never had good voice for funk anyway"
what a stupid line.
lionel had very funky voice and his
"owwwa " is in tradition with sugarfoot from ohio players.
i think if lionel stopped making music in the 1982 he would be consider to be a music legend, legendary funk musician.
but i think if he reunites with commodores and leave live dvd and album it still wouldnt be late

The first time I heard it,I knew he was reaaly going pop here and I knew
the older fans would hate it.
And it IS a commercial sell out single but I cna understand why U have grat memories when U hear this song.
Even I have some good memories, dancing with the girl I thought never would dance
with me lol All though I had some trouble on the dancefloor when the up-tempo part kick in lol

Really, this is Lionel selling out but 4 those who just got 2 know the
man it was a fun song.
