That's funny u should say his hero is Rod, I can well hear some kind of similarity in the way they sing.

He's shit hot.

Yeah when he used to perform "If You Let Me Stay" he broke into Rod's "First Cut Is The Deepest" in an interlude.

His biggest influence is Sam Cooke though, his voice is basically a clone. Major lyrical odes and cover versions there. Same with Otis Redding, Smokey Robinson, James Brown, Wilson Pickett etc. to lesser degrees...

Yup, Seasons has to be one of TTD's greatest songs. Love it to bits! Actually Symphony or Damn really was an incredible album... so much better than anything Prince did during that time - it kept me going I can tell ya!

As great as Vibrator was I felt it was his weakest album... It has grown on me over the years "We don't have that much time together" is great... I can't really handle the silly melodrama of "Resurrection" though, or the crassness of "Super Model Sandwich With Cheese" (but I love that bass... mmm!).

The million dollar question - was I the only one who appreciated NEITHER FISH NOR FLESH? Come on, it was recorded in Dublin and had a dedication to Guinness in the liner notes biggrin

Okay, you guys are gonna make me search the bargain bin & revisit Neither Fish Nor Flesh. I HATED it when it came out (only liked that one single he released in the states, To Know Someone Deeply?).

Yea, Supermodel Sandwich w/ Cheese is really crass, but the music is KILLER! I really loved Vibrator from the start, bunch of great songs on there. The piano ballads are amazing.

Symphony or Damn was a great album - his voice is just so powerful, sounds good on just about anything.

Ian, do you have WildCard already? What do you think?

I *LOVE* Neither Fish Nor Flesh...

Billy dont fall in love with me...Billy dont fall in love with me...

This Side of Love is the bomb!!!

On another note:

I remember when "She Kissed Me There" was released, and MTV premiered it...i think it was because it was a breakthrough video..(which for us TTD fans was a big thang since he wasnt getting any airplay at that time)...Some stupid 15minutes of fame VJ introduced the video by saying TTD was going to be the next Lenny Kravitz :O ...R*I*G*H*T!!! I was soo pissed off, knowing TTD hit the scene before Lenny...and MTV played his first videos to death... MTV VJS hammer

piss on the edit :O

I wish TTD much success. He says it's ok for his fans to bring tape recorders to his shows. He seems to really want to put out for his fans. His joker edition wildcard has some nice additions to it.I like it much better than the previous wildcard.

It is and it is quintessential TTD smile Very cheesy but so are a lot of his lyrics. Still a funky track though.

I thought "Turn the Page" from Symphony or Damn was a bloody great track too, and could be considered to be a bit cheesy. Bring on the cheese I say!

You're right...this song is definitely the shit!!! I can't believe how this is all over the Quiet Storm shows! And If You Go Before Me is sooo similar to Stevie, you think it's him singing it! Damn, I love this album, but not as much as S or D!!

Rio, I know what you're saying. This album just blew away anything I heard from anyone at the time (and pretty much still does), including Princey boy! Castillian Blue (this shit rocks!!!) and F&J on this album are some more of my favs on this masterpiece!

I'm going to disagree, I don't think its cheesy at all. Cheese my friends, is for artists like Enrique, Whitney, Mariah, etc... I think TTD is just very open and poetic, ain't nothing wrong with a man expressing his love!

Y'know, I found a bargin and a half in a shop in the UK called 'Cash Convertors' on Friday. TTD's Vibrator and it cost me a mere £3. I'm sure I've owned this before and possibly didn't get into it when it was released and so took it back to the record shop. Man, Im ready for that album now, it is totally fantastic. I 'get' it. It is poetic and musically wonderful. It's one of those albums that is just meant to be, written by such a wonderful creative artist.

Any of you's dig?

(Damn edits...)

Just recently when I was driving home from a Sananda concert I was listening to Vibrator again and I must say it is definetely among the best albums I´ve ever heard(though I must admit it took me some time to get into it)Songs like "Holding on to you" or the title track are just fantastic and it is one of the very few albums that has no "fillers" on it but just great tracks.
With a very special thank you to Tina: Is hammer already absolute, how much some people verändern...ICH hope is never so I will be! And if, then I hope that I would then have wen in my environment who joins me in the A....
