IT WAS FORTY YEARS AGO TODAY.... Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band is the eighth album by The Beatles. It is often cited as their magnum opus and the most influential album of all time by prominent critics and publications, ranking number 1 on Rolling Stone's The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time in 2003.[1] It was recorded by the Beatles over a 129-day period beginning on December 6, 1966.[2] The album was released on June 1, 1967 in the United Kingdom and on June 2, 1967 in the United States. KFOG played the entire album for the 10@10 program this morning, and it's reairing right now. I'm listening to it online. I don't know where I would rank it in the top 5 of Beatles albums, but the song "A Day In the Life" is either #1 or 2 for singles. "Funkyslsistah… you ain't funky at all, you just a little ol' prude"!
"It's just my imagination, once again running away with me."

It's a shame that "Strawberry Fields Forever" didn't make the album!

Nor Penny Lane. Weren't both released as a 4thcoming single? Yes, as a double A-side single in February, '67. That's why both songs were omitted from the album.
