Well youre not alone. I have been praising this record for awhile now, this is just a GREAT Pop album. There are many reasons i dig Hilary, though really up until this album i didnt really know her songs, but its funny how people SLIGHT her from being a child star and coming from Disney, when the whole group of artists like Aguilera/Timberlake/Spears all came from a kids show, so cut Hilary some slack. Another reason i dig her, is she is actually a REAL person, shes not in that class of Lohans/hiltons/spears and others that even i dig something they do i dislike them as people. With Hilary, and her older sister Haylie they just seem like the type that will stay far away from that kind of stardom. As Hilary wrote in DIGNITY "just because you got a new bag, its not news", which is an obvious shot at that whole class of "famous for nothing" people.
As for the album its GREAT for many reasons, one would be its 80's feel on alot of tracks, two would be the mix of Dance/Pop and even some Rock, and the biggest reason that this is a great record would be MIXED PRODUCERS!! I am finding all the albums i am liking alot this year are varied Producers, whether it be Amerie's record or Hilarys or Paulina's they are all various producers, and producers that DONT put their vocals on the tracks or their stamp, Can we end that shit already!! This album to me is so far my favorite record of the year next to Amerie's , those two ladies really kicked ass on these records. I've listened to about half the album and I have to say it's pretty good. Then again, I bought her previous ones (never got into them beyond the singles, which is why I liked the idea of the "hits" set). It's good, but not great. The songwriting is very weak (sorry Duffster, who co-wrote all the songs, but you need help with creating catchier choruses) and the fame theme wears thin after a while. Still, it's got it's moments and the production can be catchy and her voice is fine for these types of songs. | |
