Many of my favourite bands/performers sprung out of the UK punk era, but don’t have a stereotypical punk sound, like The Fall (obviously) and Ian Dury. The same statement would also apply to many of the American acts from that era like Pere Ubu, Suicide, Modern Lovers and Television.
