Uhm. Is that version isometric? (early "3D", not just a sidescroller?) I have the megadrive game on a PC emulator, but that's obviously different.

It's isometric and it's a bit diferent from the console version I have it, Mike. I always had the Mega Drive/Genesis one as a kid. When I found out there was an entirely different arcade version I freaked and had to find it. I'll upload it for you, give me a minute. |

Well that was fun. I downloaded it too.
Perhaps I prefer the Genesis / Megadrive game a bit more though. Coin-op games have usually a whole lot of action going on, but very little to actually do. The 2D Moonwalker was quite inventive in its use of dance moves for fighting and it made the character (michael that is) quite interesting to control. The C64/Amiga/ST/PC Moonwalker games were crap though. Even if, and now that I think about it, the C64 game was the first Michael Jackson release I ever purchased. Shame I don't have the original package anymore.

Well, it was impossible not to be able to play it through because you can keep inserting coins just by pressing "5". It was a pretty typical arcade game also in the sense that the end level bosses were the tough part, so it would make the kids insert more coins when they'd notice some progress.
Altough it's amazing how the kids you've just saved run to you at the end of the level and Michael opens his jacket.

Yeah, I prefer the Genesis version too. It's a lot more interesting and dynamic. There's more to do and it has more replay value. |
