Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam - Let The Beat Hit 'Em I remember, 1991, when I was a lil kid, this was my favorite song. And I remember always callin up the radio station and requesting this song. And as much as I played this song to death, I never got tired of it. And I just "re-discovered" this track after borrowing my cousins ipod this afternoon.

do u all remember at the time that the rap group Main Source had a more modest hit in hip hop circles with Lookin' At The Front Door with the exact same track? (they were actually first). but Lisa, the original J-Lo got some shine for a minute with this one.

This is my favorite song from Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam. That jam is back in my old whorin' clubbin' days. I like to mix that one with C&C Music Factory's "Everybody Dance Now" , then follow it by BG Prince of Rap's "This Beat Is Hot". That's an ass shakin' mix for sure.

"More modest" hit? "Lookin' at the Front Door" was one of the hottest songs of the year. Video Soul was in love with that one (and rightly so). I also love "Let the Beat Hit 'Em." "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis
