It`s a great song, and Murdock has a beautiful strong voice.

Another good song on the album is "I can`t go on without you". Remember that one?

I loved this song when I was
still too young to know what
a love affair was

this one & "Secret Lovers" (Atlantic Starr)

Secret Lovers is way way waaayyyyy too syrupy for my taste.

As We Lay is up there for me with Congratulations by Vesta, Something In My Heart by Michelle, Let Me Be Your Angel by Stacy Lattisaw and I Try by Angella Bowfill. They are perfect soul torch songs imho.

to me being like 4-5 years old
belting out songs about love affairs LOL

my mother loved that song
I wonder why :: giggle ::

lol

I love "I Try" by Angie B too
I remember for yeeeeears I
tried to figure out who made the song
I would hear it on oldie radio stations all the time

for some strange reason I thought
maybe Rick James or Bootsy Collins
had something to do with it
boy was I way left field LOL

I love this album too BTW:

"The Feelin's Love" music

hadn't heard either version boo

back to Shirley though
this album cover

reminds me of Peppermint Records
a record shop we had in our mall
when I was just a young lad
they had a life sized poster
of this album cover cool

I bought my very first 45 out of there
Tevin Campbell/Quincy Jones
"Tomorrow (A Better You A Better Me)"
cool

I think I bought Kim's HARDCORE album outta there
right before they closed down for good sad

nostalgia love

I also remember (since we're on the subject of
powerhouse ladies aaaaand Peppermint Records)
Milira had an in store there one day
me & my mama was out in the mall
and I don't think too many people cared LOL
she was basically sitting at the table
with her chin resting in her hands
I'll never forget that lol

nostalgia love
