Am I the only one who feels that Speakerboxx/Love Below sounds more Sly Stone than Prince I bought the album Speakerboxx/Love Below few days ago, and I listened to the entire stuff yesterday.
Many people said how much the album was a straight Prince-influenced album, but to me it sounds MORE like a Sly Stone-influenced album, I mean the way Andre sings is clearly Sly esque, the production, the harmony, the vibe, the beats it really sounds 70's like up to date. And it surprises me that nobody noticed that. Am I the only to feel the same ? | |

Some tracks have the SLY vibe. Happy Valentine's Day and Spread's production have that early 70's Sly effect. PRINCE: Always and Forever

It sounds like a mishmash of Parliament, Sly and Prince. Parliament, primarily. Good album. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016
