Jam of the Evening: "I Just Want To Be" by Cameo

This is one of my favorites from Cameo and it's a sho-nuff ass-shaker.

Give it up for "I Just Want To Be".

An all time classic for sure, but of course I only ever jam on the 12" version which clocks in at 6.19 and the not the 5.14 edit version.

"I Just Want to Be" was Cameo's breakthrough song, becoming the group's first hit on the Billboard R&B Singles chart (peaking at No. 3 in Fall 1979). Years later, it's still one of my favorite jams by Larry Blackmon & Co.

Asking whether this classic Cameo song is funky is like asking is water wet. You would silly trying to argue against it.
