WHY Do People Do This?

why do people feel the need to out "fan" eachother? i've never understood people's reasoning for trying to prove why they feel they are a bigger fan of an artist than someone else is instead of enjoying the music together.
lol

i came across a stupid war of words on another artist's site.. (no, not MADONNA or KYLIE, but i've seen that there too. ) and people were trying to out fan one another. falloff

is there a way of measuring fandom? or would that fall under an obsessive disorder? i know some people measure it on amount of products or how many more times someone has seen so-and-so, usually using a monitary amount to measure their adoration, and others with how much gossip or stats they can gather and post about. lol but at the end of the day has it made a difference or brought you any closer to them? lol

i seriously would like to know what you guys think. and if you've encounter this yourselves.

I don't really see it here. I saw it on a Craig David board(UK vs USA), UK Garage boards(UK vs USA.....again) and MJ boards(take your pick lol )

I don´t understand what this has to do with Madonna or any other artist, those guys in the pic look like football/soccer hooligans. That yellow-red striped shirt looks like a Galatasaray Istanbul shirt ( could also be something else but I´m Turkish and as far as I can tell, it looks like these are CimBom/Galatasaray fanatics) . You see this kinda shitty behaviour in many places in Europe and elsewhere...but not that much at concerts.

I think Prince has some of the most well mannered and polite and well behaved fans in the world...a bit snobbish at times but they don´t do violent shit like that.

what is the CONTEXT of this photo? the pic alone doesn't appear to have anything to do with a concert or an artist. just some hooligans doing what hooligans do

I'm a fan of various artists so I don't care if someone else thinks they are a bigger fan than I am.

However, when it comes to disliking an artist, I will let you know quick, fast, and in a hurry that I am the biggest Shitney Houston hater and don't you motherfuckers forget it! lol
