Style of Celebrities.

1. What celebrity( princess, artist, musician, actress, etc.)
have "style" and they can make a statement and look great?!

I know mj, liz taylor, princess diana, prince and ,miss kennedy did.

2. What makes an artist interesting to you that they make you want to check out their movies, etc.?

there vibe,Persona&the way they Carry themselves.back in the day MJ was a Real Cool Cat.things aren't anywhere close to the way they once were but MJ still has a Vibe that certain Artists still are Influenced by.I think anybody that stands out usually has something that kind of "IT".

Bowie did something with it. And then shook it off and did something with another style. I took suby's question to mean who can take something and make it popular or set a trend with it.

suby asked who could make a statement and look great. James Brown hasn't looked great a day in his life. Little Richard either, for that matter.

There seems to be a difference between "celebrities" who appear on every 2 bit talk show hawking their latest 2nd rate product to "stars" who transcend the day to day BS of selling stuff. I'm thinking of Prince, Elvis, Lennon, Hendrix, De-Niro, Sinatra. These people have real style and class that will never be surpassed. Prince has no interest in selling millions of records, but deep down he knows he could do if he wanted to. This sets him and the others apart from J-Lo or Britney whose careers are based not on quality but on numbers. Once the sales dry up, so does the style that they bring. Even when Elvis was fat or Lennon was a house husband, the style and aura they had was undeniable

Lennon & Elvis appeared on many talk shows. and died before the celebrity talk-show circuit became as saturated as it currently is. Hendrix died before that too. Sinatra's career peaked prior to that as well, and he really wasn't doing anything by this time. Dinero, i'll give you that one.

Prince has no interest in selling millions of records, but deep down he knows he could do if he wanted to.

it needs to be pointed out that Prince's attitude about this has only recently changed. what do you think all of the promotion for Emancipation and Rave was about? he was on many talk-shows during this period. and does he really know that he can sell millions if he wants to? i have a feeling that Rave shook him of this belief. he did try to sell millions with that one, and look where it got him. nowhere. can he still do it? and does he still believe he can? i doubt it. and that's why you see him saying now that he doesn't care. this is a great step forward for him, but only a recent one. and we don't know if it'll stick.

This sets him and the others apart from J-Lo or Britney whose careers are based not on quality but on numbers. Once the sales dry up, so does the style that they bring. Even when Elvis was fat or Lennon was a house husband, the style and aura they had was undeniable

Lennon, yes. Elvis, no. He was little more than a Vegas act by the end. And who can say what Lennon would have been if he hadn't been killed. People who die young have the luxury in history of not having a downfall. Elvis, Jimi, Janis, Lennon, etc.

I agree with the point about the "IT" being the way certain stars carry themselves. Influenced by others or not, true icons have their own sense of style and don't give a flying crap about what others think about them. Bjork, MJ (even now - come on, no-one dresses like that wink ), Prince, Bowie, Madonna etc. etc. Although with Bowie and Madge it's more their chameleon type qualities that fascinates people so much. Madonna seems to have lost a lot of the qualities that mae her a style icon (in my humble opinion, whether incorrect or not). Seems to be more about purposely setting a short-lived trend (e.g. named T-Shirts, cowboy hats) than just doing something spontaneous and genius at the same time - the last "lasting image" that she had was the cone bra in the early 90s.

Elvis wasn't exactly young, though he wasn't old, he was relatively young at age 42 when he passed. And I don't know exactly what you mean by downfall, since by this time he was a regular of the Vegas circuit and had succumbed to his excesses of food, drink, and drugs before he finally passed.

Lennon and Presley respectively were 13 and 15 years older than Jimi and Janis when they passed.
